TOO good to be true! need help in decision!

I'm a car enthusiast and I was scouting in my local paper and scouted
a 1941 pontiac sedan for sale for a $1,000. the add said that it runs but needs restored. I don't know how bad it is but it sounds like a good deal to make into a hot rod/ rat rod. I'm seriously thinking about it and it would be a great car once restored. and I think Pontiac stopped making them during WWII so it sounds like a great buy. what do you guys think?

Examine carefully as it

might be mostly rust held together by hope. Also, scope out parts sources to see if you can get needed missing or damaged parts. You may be buying something for which someone else knows no hope exists.

This can put your motivational fortitude and your wallet to the test. The suggestion of looking into parts availability is A+. the fact that it runs is a big bonus and quite surprising.

I'd check around and see what as far as parts go, are available for it and what would have top be re-fabricated? It may sound like a good deal, but if nothing is around to fix it up, or to make it will cast a fortune, you might want to find something else. I mean as it is, restoring cars in general nickel and dime a person to death, then factor in one where the parts are wither so hard to find or simply not available, it can cause you to either go broke or insane. lmao

But if you are serious, the next step it to find out what's available and if parts are, then the next step is to bring only $700 bucks cash with you, or even $500, and go look at it. Then if you still want it after looking at it in person and finding out what, if anything is available for it, offer the $500 first and then increment amounts of 50 maybe up to the $700 and tell them to take it or leave it, of course explain the parts situation as your reason for less money being offered.
GOOD LUCK!

You don't say where you live...is it the rust belt or out west/down south?
