| Agreed... Originally posted by Lenny2 Like I said...Generation Gap | Howdy Lenny,
I know part of my feelings are Generation Gap related. I check myself when I hear myself uttering a generation gap phrase.
You know when the kid in the beater peels out at the light or drives by shaking the timbers with his sound system, I get the urge to hike my pants up to my nipples and yell, "Dern fool kids!" I think it comes naturally.
But, I stand by the rest of my post as what I wholly believe. Add to that, some (too many) kids coming out of high school are literally dumb as a sack of doorknobs. Totally lacking in work ethics and drive. Cannot tell time on a standard clock, cannot use a phone book. No spelling or grammar skills (Like we havent whipped that to death here...LOL), and no thought about anyone but themselves.
Okay, ya got me. the last part about selfish is a generation gap phrase, but anyone who has worked with teens, as I do on a daily basis, will tell you this is the case.

Sniper, I agree. But I was the same way as a teen. Basically, I once wore diaper; but I out grew them.

| AStryper and Judas Priest Originally posted by alan c. Did somebody mention Judas Priest. Yeah baby. | Ahh yes, "Always There For You" was a big Stryper hit round these parts back in the day.
But there obviously was a positive influence with Stryper.
But then too with Judas Priest, in "Another Thing Commin" consider the lyrics,
"In this world we're livin' in we have our share of sorrow
Answer now is don't give in aim for a new tomorrow."
Not a claim to the band as a whole, but that line and riff stick with a guy, ya know?

Oh yea, Alan, that was me. I'm barely old enough to remember the Judas Priest law suit. What I do know is that "Breaking the Law" didn't make me "break the law." Heck, I did it because I wanted to!

Sniper,
I think your complaint about lack of education regarding todays kids is not entirely in the proper context. I have talked to my father and grandfather about school when they were kids. They said a lot of kids could not read and many did not make it out of 8th grade. The military was the choice for a lot of kids who never learned basic living and education skills. Nowadays the military is turning away kids because they don;t score high enough on aptitude tests. Thats because kids are getting more and better educations than they used to. The high school and college graduation rates have climbed steadily over the last 5 decades.
Kids that lack work ethic and drive are that way because of their parents. You can't blame a generation of people for being who they are. You have to try to figure out why. The standard of living gets better every generation. The number of military actions (& wars) have decreased in number and severity. Kids now have it easy.
It's not their fault for acting the way that their parents allow them to.

Standard of living goes up due to greed. Cost of living goes up regardless of citizen greed. Tell me something about that!
You're on the right track Lenny. That's why I enjoy your input!

| Youre prolly right
Howdy Lenny,
You are most likely correct, and, in my defense I will refer to my comment about the generstion gap. I catch myself more and more, sounding like my Dad!
But I still believe what I said about the parents. We both agree kids are always a product of both society and their parents. Billary was quasi (sorta a little maybe in the statement alone) correct when she said it takes a village. Hillary correct????? Dear God, what is the world comming to?!?!?!?!?
