here are the reasons that id rather have a sks than a mini 14.
1. sks is more accurate
2. mini 14 jams, im not saying it does it alot but ive never seen a sks jam at all.
3. i can drop my sks in hte swamp and leave it there for a week and when i comeback and get it it will still fire.
4. 7.62x39!

They do, it's called the Mini-30, but I'd still take an SKS over it

Bravo:
"Roger" that.

I chose my Norinco because of the chrome-lined barrel, being a late-bloomer rifle enthusiast (plinker), and am glad to also have the Mini 14, 30 and MN44. Did not want all my 'semi-auto eggs' in one caliber basket, so to speak.
Some "system redundancy" can help us avoid being pushed into a corner.

Always have an alternate in mind, know your systems and limitations-Murphy's law is waiting.

I have 2 Mini 14 s and 3 sks s they are about equal in accuracy and reliability. I have trusted my life on my blue Mini many times and would not hesitate to carry it again. I like the high capacity 30 rd mags. the only drawbacks to the sks are the weight, length and low capacity. (aftermarket high capacity mags are pure junk! I have a pile of the little p.o.s.s)

I think its all about what your trying to do with the mini-14, mini-30 or the sks because there all great guns, and a blast to shoot,(IF) you know what you're doing all are well suited for reaching out to 275-300 yrds, with decent accuracy,if you're using ammo thats not dirt cheap!,and as far as a kill shot with the mini-14 if you can shoot even OK,and the first one doesent do the job you can reaquire your target a little faster with the .223, it naturaly has less recoil and just as many rnds! but thats only my oppinion, everyone will have there own personal favorite.(p,s, ) As far as jamming up,the only time my own mini-14 ever jammed was when I came up with idea to save money on ammo and chose wolf rnds over remmington, or black hills, but that had nothing to do with the ability of the weapon because both of my friends had the same probleme with wolf in 7.62.

That has been the case with most of the ruger auto-loaders I've fired,They're ''very'' picky,But I've found if you use only brass and first run ammo they feed flawlessly, for some reason they don't like reloaded ammo, at least in my experience,But I'm no expert, I just like shootin!
