got caught out after curfew....again

well the other night i went for a walk, just to get some things off my mind and figure things out, it was about 2am and i was only 4 blocks away from my house and was on my way home when the cop stopped me (when i say THE cop i seriously mean THE only cop we have on patrol lol) and asked what i was doing and where i was heading and i told him and he explained to me the curfew which i was already aware of (11pm to 6am) and he said he had to take me home because he made contact with me and the next time i would have to go to court. this is the 3rd time i got caught but the first 2 were right in front of my house and both times i was coming home from my cousins who lives a block away. well i guess i wont be going out late anymore....or just try harder to not get caught. just thought id sare it with you guys.

Don't believe the curfew applies to adults. 3'd time, huh? Slow learner? Nothing good happens after midnight! Nothing! If you feel the need to stay up that late, chew the fat with folks on this forum and stay off the streets! Hell, I'm 52 and you aren't going to catch my old azz wandering around in the wee hours of the morning unless the Alzheimers has kicked in and my family doesn't care about Grandpaw anymore!

Where are your papers little boy, your papers are not in order. What country is this in? You need a girlfriend to help you sort it out and keep you home. Now if this about a girl, you need another one.

yea around here there is a curfew unless you got a gun in your hands and its hunting season then they just tell you to get one for them and to have a safe hunting trip. the problem is everyone wears camo down here all year long and we all carry guns in the cars or trucks so i guess we can just use that ecscuse most of the year .

Tippmann.... you know what a back yard is yet. We had a curfew in a town I lived in once. You weren't allowed to be on the STREET after midnight. The police would check you out if you were on the STREET or sidewalk after midnight. They couldn't do anything if you were on private property, unless they had a prowler report.

Are you guys serious? You actually have Curfews? Sounds worse than most of the Third World countries I've been in.

You've been here. You've seen the local riff raff. You'd want curfew on them too!

I've been there but actually had no idea such a thing existed in the USA.

What do the civil liberties people say about that??

I dunno, the curfew is for people under 18. Unless you have a work permit.

Forgive me for asking and even though someone said curfew for adults, are you an adult or a minor?

And if you're an adult, that's a crock of you know what and I'd tell them where they could stick it if it were me. That's about the stupidest thing I've ever heard. That is if your an adult. As far as curfews for teenagers under 18 years of age, I think it's a good idea. The only ones usually out after curfew are those that are drunk, stoned, stupid or just looking for trouble in my book. And if you're one of those under 18, don;t take offense to it. I know you were out just clearing your head. But my comment was/is aimed at the gang bangers and I'm sure you aren't one of those...So p[lease, no offense intended towards you. And I only said it because where I live, the only ones out late are as I mentioned...

Wunhunglo:

Some bigger, or even small ish towns have curfews for people under the age of 18. It is geared towards keeping young people up to no good off the streets and where I am from they rarely enforce it unless they have reason to believe you are up to no good. Say they had reports of a fight or loud music or something like that, they would cruise the block where the complaint came from and if you got caught and you were under age, they could at least get you for SOMETHING, i.e. curfew. Usually they would just take you home and notify your parents but if you are caught too many times, then yeah you have to go to court.

Sounds like in ol boys case here, the ONE cop in town has NOTHING else to do, so he finds something. They have similar laws in the UK when I was stationed over there, but theirs are MUCH harsher.

EDIT: I had to look up what the UK called them, ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOR LAWS.

Unless a juvenile has just got off work, there is no compelling reason to be wandering the streets at 2 A.M! This is when bad things happen! Wunhunglow, I'm sure you would agree that 14- 17 year olds don't need to be out and about at that early hour????????? Where is mom and dad???????

The British ASBO laws are not quite the same as a Curfew; they relate to specific people, not people in general. They are basically a court order on that particular person restricting his/her activities. But in general, they don't work!

"" In order to obtain an ASBO a two-stage test must be satisfied by the applicant authority (see section 1(1) Crime and Disorder Act 1998). The first is that the defendant has committed acts causing or likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress within six months of the date of issue of the summons. The second is that an order is necessary to protect persons from further anti-social behaviour.""

That is about the only restrictions on the British public regarding free passage.

Talking

Actually wunhunglo, I was refering to this ABSO law regarding curfews:

Curfew Notices - Law And Parents (UK)

I guess they are about the same as they are here, they take you home and notify your parents... there was a big uproar about these when they first rolled them outin Cambridge, Newmarket and Bury St. Edmunds, that is the only reason I remember.

I get your drift though, i was citing the wrong info- or at least not the right area of info earlier...
