Here's the "ghost' thread...

Windwalker..the ghost I believe is in my house is that of a male adult- I have never seen him, but every night, especially around 2:10-2:45am, I can sense him walking around, especially towards my room. I sometimes get the smell of smoke, so perhaps he was a smoker.

My son was two when he walked out of his room one night to ask us to tell the man under his bed to leave. This was at approximately 10:00pm...and before I believed I may have a ghost. He didn't really describe him except to say that he was a man.

My mother has also stated that while she visited and slept in the downstairs room that used to be my son's, she would also get the feeling that someone was walking toward the room and just this past November she actually saw the door to the room slowly open and something real light touch her leg. She thinks "he" may have been looking for us, since that happened the night we moved upstairs to our completed rooms.

My brother and a friend arrived on July 4th-they were "buddy" passing me and my son the next day and was flying with us. I woke at 5:25am to my brother calling up to me to come downstairs. When I joined him, his friend told me that about 10 minutes prior, he got to meet the "ghost.

He was laying in bed and when he opened his eyes he saw what he thought was my husband bent over him with what looked like a disposable camera. He thought my husband was playing a joke so he just laid there (he was on his back)-he followed the figure as it walked to the foot of the bed and he told me that his first thought was "how in the hell is M--being that quiet?" He stood there for about two minutes with the camera aimed at him but he never heard a click/flash. When the figure came back to the side of the bed, he decided to startle what he thought was my husband and swatted at him. He said the figure leaned back real quick, almost like he was trying to avoid getting hit and in a blink of his eye, the figure was gone. He called out to my brother, who then called out to me. He said that he thought it was my husband because the figure was built like him.
My husband has never had any encounters and usually goes to bed early. During the day we get nothing. I never used to believe in these things but now I can't help but to wonder. Sorry its long, but that is my story.

Thats spooky MrsS!! Good story!! I hope this thread really takes off.

I'll add my "ghost" story;

Not really a ghost but definitely a weird story. One night as a teenager, I was driving home hoping to be there before my curfew. It was a beautiful summer night, full moon and mild temps so I rolled both my windows down, turned off the radio and was just enjoying the ride through the countryside. All of a sudden, I hear an electric crackling sound almost as if someone was welding. At the same time, I see a green glow coming from my left side. I turn my head and see in my side mirror, a green ball of what looked like sparks floating against the side of my truck where the door and cab meet. Just as I turn and look at it directly, it just disappears. Very weird. And before anyone asks, no, I wasn't drinking or smoking anything!!

My first encounter with a ghost was back in the early '80s when I was a college student.

I rented a little one room cottage behind a large victorian house in Colorado Springs. This place was tiny. It had a tiny bathroom, a tiny kitchen and a small closet. My bed was in the main room and there was only a few feet from it to the walls surrounding it.

What started happening first was that at night while I was sleeping the closet door would suddenly open and swing out and hit the foot of my bed waking me up. It kept happening and at times would do it while I was still awake laying in bed in the dark. I checked the door many times before I would go to sleep. The door would be latched and if I pulled on it, it would not open without turning the door knob on it. I would also leave the door slightly ajar to see if maybe it was just not level and would swing out on it's own. It would not. The room would be super dark at night when the lights were out. So one night I was laying in bed in the dark with my eyes closed trying to go to sleep. Suddenly I hear the closet door latch click and sure enough the door opens and hits my bed. I opened my eyes and layed there looking around the small room. There was a chair that sat toward the end of my bed that I would leave my clothes on. I looked at the chair and could only make out the dark silhouette of the chair. But along with the silhouette of the chair, I could see a silhouette of a person sitting in it. There was just enough dim light that I could only see a clear silhouette of a person sitting in that chair that was about six feet from my face. I was scared to death at this point but I slowly moved toward the chair and put my hand out to touch whatever was there. Right up until I actually touched it I could still very clearly see that silhouette of that person sitting there. As soon as my hand made contact with the chair the silhouette disappeared. I jumped up and turned on the light. My shorts and shirt were laying in the chair crumpled up and there was no way that they were forming the silhouette I saw clearly.

The next day I was speaking to a friend of mine that lived in that main house in front of the cottage. All I mentioned to him was that the cottage sort of freaked me out. He came back with a story that before I moved into the cottage there was an older guy that lived there. Apparently the guy died from old age or something and they found him dead sitting in that chair. But before they found him, someone had broken into the cottage through a boarded up window that was in the closet and came in and stole all of his belongings. I put two and two together and moved out the very next day...

I'll tell you about my second encounter in another post later.

When I was doing Civil War reenactments back in the day, travelling all over east of the Mississippi, we got the chance to visit damn near EVERY major battlefield. The coolest ones were the ones on state property since you could have the reenecatment on the actual ground where it was fought a lot of the time. Including camping on the battlefield, and sometimes the weekends would fall on the same days as the battles that were fought there 145 years before. Now saying that, I am sure there is not a single reenactor of the Civil War that will tell you he doesn't believe in ghosts.

Do I believe? Yes
Have I witnessed? OH HELL YES! Too many events to name here! I would say a good, solid six events, but the first was enough to almost make me pee in my linen undershorts! After that, it would raise the hair on your neck, and give you a uncomfortable feeling like you needed to get the heck out of there, but after a few, you know they mean no harm, they are just lost. Unwilling, or unable to move past an event that took hundereds or thousands of lives over a few hours or a few days.

Ive seen a ghost once, i must have been 13 or 14, we went over to this womans house for a Christmas dinner. I asked where the bathroom was and she told me it was upstairs. So i go upstairs drain the lizard, and as im walking out the door down the hall tward the stairs there is a bedroom parallel to the stairs, and looking into the room i see an outline of a woman staring at me. Im staring back and not thinking much more of it head downstairs. I goto the woman who owns the house and asked who the woman upstairs was, and she said there was no other woman here, except for her and my mom. she then said it could be the ghost of this woman who goes from her house to her neighbors. apparently the houses were conjoined at one point and the ghost has been seen from time to time.

Mu mom has a very old house and in one bedroom you can be lying there and a cat will jump on the bed. For those of you that have cats you know what I mean. He walks around and does his clawing thing and lies down next to your leg. You can even feel him purr. My mom doesn't have a cat.

Spooky, check the history on the house. Wow, you're going to need a neutron neutralizer. I don't know where to get one.

When I was eleven, we lived in an old house, in Tujunga, Ca. It was built in the late 1800's. I kept telling my parents about the weird things going on, but they thought it was my imagination. I was alone in the house, one weekend, and heard someone walking around, upstairs. As I went up the stairs, I heard the door to the balcony close, in my sister's bedroom. I opened the door, and nothing. I went to the balcony door, and it was still locked. We had never found a key that would open it. I looked through the window, and the balcony was empty. I decided it was time to go to Grandma's house, down the road.

Shortly after this happened, we moved to Northern Ca. And it started all over again. I heard a bike come down the driveway, along with my Grandma, and sister. I went to see who it was, and there were no tracks, and nobody.

On another night, we were watching TV, and heard the car door open, and then close. I ran outside, to check on the car, and it was still locked. My folks were out of town, and had the only keys to that car.

Another night, I heard footsteps going down the gravel path, outside my bedroom window, and opened the window and looked out. I could still hear someone walking, but there was no one out there! I started down the hall, and my sis came out, complaining about the noise. As we got to our parents door, it opened, and outcomes my Dad, with a shotgun. I tried to tell him there was nobody there, but he went out the back door, muttering about prowlers. He came back in, scratching his head, and said we must have dreamed it. All four of us, at the same time?

When I got out of the service, and moved to Denair, this same entity moved with me, and lived in that house for twenty years. It got to be quite a joke, when things would go bump in the night. Some people thought I was crazy, and others thought it was strange that a ghost would attach to, and follow a living person from place to place! Has any one here had that happen? I think we lost the poor soul, when we moved to Ok., I haven't seen or heard anything out of him, in two and a half years.

Mrs.S that was a cool story.

I posted the following story in the UFO thread, I think I will go into a little more detail here.

When I was living in middle Tennessee a friend of mine sold a antique rocking chair that came from the house that the "Bell Witch" had haunted many, many years ago. He sold it on e-bay. The old timers in that small town still talk about the stories of the Bell Witch that had been passed on from generation to generation. One of the stories was about President Andrew Jackson. He once said "I would rather spend a year fighting the Indians again, than to spend one night being haunted by the Bell Witch".

My Mom and Dad have told me about their first house. I was just a baby so I don't remember any of it but... Every morning my Mom would have to clean up a trail of sugar off of the kitchen counter. It was as if someone spilled it while putting it in their coffee. Every morning two pictures hanging on the wall would be switched. Mom finally left them the way they were. The master bedroom had new carpet so the door was hard to move. My parents would get woken up every so often from the door swinging back and forth. People visiting and sitting in a particular chair in the kitchen would feel a breeze on the back of their neck as if someone had just walked behind them but no one was there. One day my Dad was home alone and he heard a male voice call out his name. Not his nickname but his given name which only my Great-Grandmother would use and she had never been there. Now here's the really freaky thing. One night my Mom and Dad woke up to a knocking at the front door. It was about 2:00 AM. My Dad opened the door to find a women holding my two year old brother. She said she was on her way home from work and saw my brother standing on the sidewalk. The entire house was secure and my parents couldn't find any place where he could have gotten out on his own.
They researched the history of the area and found at one point there had been a farm and their house was in the same general area as the farm house. The farmer who owned the property had been murdered in his house.
I've seen some things in the house where I grew up. I don't know if it was a case of being followed or something else. I do know that ghosts or poltergeists or whatever you want to call them freak me out and I've been getting chills reading the stories posted here. Sorry to be long winded but I had a lot to say. Thanks.

When I was in college I had about four friends over to the house I was living in alone. We were watching TV in a front bedroom on the second floor when we heard someone run across the attic from the front of the house to the back, and then it ran back to the front of the house. It was incredibly loud, and we were the only ones there. My friends were out in the street before it made it back to the front of the house. LOL! I saw and heard a lot of things in that old house, and the place had a lot of history, but that was one of the few that was witnessed by others.

There's a ghost at my job, too, but I won't get into him.

I have had 4 paranormal experiences.

One was when I started going out with a very beautiful woman whos husband had died a year prior to my meeting her. I was the first one that she had gone out with since he had left one day and died of a heart attack at the buisness he owned. She was convinced his spirit was still in the house she still lived in.

She gave me a tour of her house when I first got there. We went downstaris and there was a 6 foot long hallway from one room to another. There were pictures and plaques on the wall but otherwise nothing in the hall. I vividly remember the black and white checkerboard of the tile floor of that hallway. We went back upstairs after the tour and were sitting on the couch in the living room. We heard something like smack smack smack, like three thin pieces of wood hitting the floor somewhere down stairs.

When we got downstairs we found three of the plaques had fallen off the walls. Remember this was the hall we had just gone through a few minutes earlier. These were better business bureau type plaques from her dead husbands business. When I attempted to hang the plaques back up I was surprised to find the nails were missing off the wall. We searched the 6 foot long hallway and could not find any of them. So eventually I leaned then against the wall and we went back upstairs.

Her husband had built a cuckoo clock that hung in the living room. It really seemed to be haunted. The cuckoo would pop out at strange times and cuckoo even though the clock was not running. The pendulum would start ticking back and forth all by itself. You would look at it and it would say, lets say 12:10. You would look at it fifteen minutes later and it would say 4:38. Yet you never saw the hands move.

The next week when I was there again the cuckoo clock was really acting up. It was cuckooing like mad. The time would change but only when you were not looking. The pendulum starting and stopping.

We were laying on the couch watching tv. If you sit on the couch in the living room a person can see all of the kitchen by looking over the back of it. We heard a sound comming from the kitchen. It was as if someone was stomping their feet across the kitchen as hard as they could. I asked the beautiful lady "If I sit up do you think I will see anything?" She said no. We just stayed as we were and after maybe 5 minutes it quit.

I have to admit I left there that night wondering if I was going to make it home.

You know… I never thought much of nor did I believe in ghosts until came face to face with one.

When I was a brand new Security Police airman stationed at RAF Alconbury, England, I was on patrol conducting bunker checks of the munitions (NNMSA) area. On this evening, I was driving a British spec. vehicle (right-side drive) … I would pull up between the bunker door and the blast wall, alley lights on to shine on the high security lock to ensure it was secure. It was approximately 0100 hrs. by the time I got to the last structure and was about done with my checks. I would put the clipboard on the steering wheel… annotate the time, structure number, condition and initial. As I was doing so… I had the very bad feeling I was being watched. I looked up, straight out the front window of the car… nothing there… I looked left, nothing there… and I looked right… there was something there looking at me right in the window. What I saw… caused my skin to crawl (as it is now) as there was a figure of a man leaning over… looking at me with a quizzical look on his face. The figure was transparent… and almost fog-like… I could not believe what I was seeing! I looked away… unsure of the reality of what I was seeing… only to look back and see the same thing, this man looking at me. I recall seeing this figure wearing a jacket with an 8-ball on the upper left. It was then when I realized this was not my imagination or even fog… I knew what I was seeing. At that point, I looked back at him again… but he was moving towards the back of the car. I looked in the mirror and saw him moving from the right to the left… behind the car. I looked over my left shoulder only to see this figure move behind the blast wall. Enough was enough, I was outta there. To this day… I still recall that night, but it is more and more surreal…

I made it across the base to the Law Enforcement Desk in (probably) record time. I recall throwing the keys at the Desk Sgt. and her saying “Airman, you cannot do that… that is your post for the night.” Needless to say… I was done for the night… someone else took the patrol.

A few years later, I was stationed at Eglin AFB, Florida. As you meet people, inevitably… you talk about where you’ve been, who you knew, what you experienced. My new supervisor was stationed at RAF Alconbury he told me of a Security Police Lieutenant who committed suicide at the Squadron (which was our training Bldg.) when I was there. SP’s who worked in the training building would see a Lt. moving about peripherally as they worked at their desks. There was no Lt’s assigned to training. He asked if I had seen anything “strange” when I was there. Cautiously, I told him of my experience in the NNMSA area. To my horror… he confirmed what I saw as others had seen the same. He was a pilot who crashed landed his B-24 at Alconbury and never made it out of his plane alive. Others have seen the same thing… a pilot wandering around at night looking for something. That was my experience at RAF Alconbury… others had similar experiences.

There were sounds that would come out of the surrounding woods and the pump-houses of the hardened aircraft structures that would make you very much interested in getting out of the area. Alpha-4 was an area that … would constantly give you the feeling you were being watched. One SP actually lost bladder control after seeing “something” that scared them to the point of screaming on the radio for help… when we got there, the SP was in the middle of the truck, doors locked, rifle at the ready and staring at the back of one of the structures. Needless to say, that SP was never posted in that restricted area again, at least not alone.

I know what I saw… and have believed in ghosts since that day.
