I got my Mossberg catalog today, and i'm shocked and awed.

I requested it from Mossberg so i could get a better look at the new 464 lever-action in .30-30, and i must say, i learned much about the gun's improvements and abilities that i wasn't aware of. Bottom line, i still want one, now even worse than i did before (Knowledge is a dangerous thing, really.). But what took the cake was the shotguns. Are you guys aware of just how many different shotguns they make? One for just about every purpose you can think of on the FACE OF THE EARTH! There were waterfowl shotguns, deer hunting slug-guns, turkey guns, home defense shotguns, police and military shotguns, semi-automatic shotguns, pump shotguns, over-and-unders, double barrels (side-by-sides), dual purpose shotguns, etc.. I'm surprised they don't have a shotgun that does your grocery shopping, cooks your dinner and turns on the t.v. when you want to watch football! Jeeminy Crickett, these folks make a lot of shotguns! Not to mention bolt-action centerfire and rimfire rifles and they even make pink rifles for your wife or daughter. This is one active and prolific gun company.

Mossberg is blessed with creative, . . .

ambitious management that studies what the consumer market wants
then delivers it. The word of mouth advertising value they receive must be phenominal and you can't buy that kind of advertising.

What also sets Mossberg on the faster track is the smarts to keep their prices affordable by a large magority of the middle class.

Ballbearing would you beleive when I first looked at Mossbergs website I too was taken back by all the different shotguns.
God only knows how many times a day I went there for over 4 years looking at all the shotguns.
When they came out with the model 930 semi-auto line of shotguns it became a life or death situation to have one LOL.
At first I was smitten with the new 535 ATS Turkey shotguns and was going to buy one.
But then one day BAM there was the the new 930 semi-auto's so I bought a Turkey model 930.
I'm still haunted a little to buy the 535 ATS.
Here's a picture of the 535 ATS I would Love to have.....

A buddy of mine in Alaska bought that same gun and put a knoxx stock on it with a rifled slug barral and uses his own home loaded rounds and says its one of the best guns he has ever owned and loves it! I remember when he bought though I didnt like the way that thumb whole stock felt....just didnt feel natural to me.

I'm thinking about a Mossberg 931 Special Purpose (Tactical) for home defense. I already have the 590 pump and love it. My question is this? Is the semi auto 12 gague reliable? And can you use a slugger barrel with it?
Thanks in advance guys, its much appreciated.

I love my 500, wouldn't trade it for the world. I only wish it was a short barrel, I found out it would cost me almost as much to get it legal for a short barrel as it would to just buy a 500a1 outright, so it's a pipe dream for now. Though since it's home use only and never leaves my house except to go out to my family land and shoot, I had once considered sawing off the barrel, then decided I'm way too much of a pansy of the law to do it.......sad....

My wife and I bought two Mossberg 500A 12 gauge 18.5" house shotguns this week, one with a women's length (shortened) stock and one with a folding stock...

...both have black synthetic fittings.

We look forward to getting out and shooting them, see-how-they-work practice shooting...

...we're also going to purchase longer barrels so we can hunt with them as well.

I have a Mossberg 500 18.5” that I have shot thousands of rounds through. It used to go everywhere with me. Then I got a 535 Grand Slam, with the fiber optic sights, and a 20” barrel. It came with the XX-Full choke and I bought the IC. That is the most versatile shotgun I have, any round works every time, sights for slugs or turkey, and it was pretty affordable. It is now my go everywhere gun.
