millitary training

yesterday i took my neighbors son to shoot my ak and my .44 .
well he is in the marines. and has one year left to go before he is out. well anyway we got to the spot where it was safe to shoot . i gave him the clip and the ak. guess what he could not figure out how to get the clip in. so i showed him and gave it back to him. guess what he could not figure out how to take the safety off. and after that he went to shoot it and before he shot he took my back sight and flipped it too the front. freaked me out .he did not know nuthing about this gun but that it fired a 7.62x39 round and if he was to need a gun in combat the ak is the one to have.
now he is a mechanic in the marines but don't they train the basic soldier in boot camp how to operate the ak 47.being everyone that we are ever goin to go to war against will probably have one.or is it just the infantry soldier that they teach it too. i wish i would have joined the millitary. instead i got married . just think !.. in the milltary you only fight when there is a war! ... lol

thats why its called "BASIC TRAINING" to learn the basic stuff marksmanship, military subjects, drill and ceremonies, PT, and other basic stuff. in "ADVANCED INDIVIDUAL TRAINING" is where the soldier goes to the advanced school, mechanic, cook, clerk or what ever. the infantry AIT is where the future grunts learn about the enmy weaponry, and of course theres always OJT.

negative if said soldier, attempted to smuggle a full auto weapon, and was caught its Ft Levenworth, and the last i heard the military stockade/brig don't give time off for good behavior. anyway i do beleive that the militaries don't allow sovener rifles, pistols or other equipment any more, which is odd, beings as its ok to carry and use Uncle Sams full auto, but you can't bring back an old bolt action rifle!!!

I don't know about Marines, but we AF mechanics only get to throw our tools at the bad guys.

I feel sorry for the kid. There are only 2 basic ways that BOX MAGAZINES are attached, and this soldier only knew one. I can usually figure out how to operate and strip a firearm in about 30 seconds.

Klaus, this Marine is a mechanic by MOS. so he'd probably know more about box wrenchs, than box magazines!!! also regarding soveniers, after the Grenada invasion, we found scads of weapons in warehouses. if i remember right the news mentioned that the troops were forbidden to liberate any soveniers at risk of stockade time, on orders from the "high command"

I can't say for the Marines, but in the Army if his M.O.S. is mechanic it is highly possible that he has never been trained in or fired an AK. The Army does not keep enough of these weapons to allow every soldier the opportunity to fire one. Although I am somewhat surprised that he could not figure how the magazine would be put in.

i think it's kinda funny that the average person on the street. would know more about the enemies weapon then the millitary.
they should take all those ak's they confiscate and do some cross training. this guy said he had some buddies in desert storm. they were ordered to take all the ak's confiscated .dismantel and burn them. what a waist!. why not give them to the military to train with? i was told alot did not make it in the fire though.
