News Articles

Hey guys,

Let's watch the news articles being posted in the powder keg. There are laws about posting articles and only having certain amount of words and proper link backs to the original site. To avoid this complication, I ask they not be posted.

Chris I've wondered if some of us are infringing on copy right's some times.
I've quoted news articals and gun information from magazines I subscribe and most of these magazines forbid useing there material with out there expressed permission.

What's your thought's ?

That's exactly the point AH. Some of these threads do break copyright. Avoiding posting political threads at all..will alleviate this entirely. If you want to post a link, and discuss it in your blog., but not not copy/paste it.

I understand what you are talking about. The link needs to take you directly there without posting the article. Copy/ paste is out. Let's help protect the site we love so much. Smart man.

A link should not run afoul of the copyright laws.

I am a little corn-fused... which is fairly easy to do I might add...

So as long as we don't post the article in its entierity (sp?) and we post the link where we got the excerpt we are kosher? Kind of like what the GGreporter-bot does?

How does this apply to posting songs or clips from Utube?

Actually you can quote if you reference the quote such as "Cow is of the bovine ilk, one end is moo, the other milk" Ogden Nash -then put source and then date. Perfectly legal.and does not violate copyright since you are giving credit to the author and the publisher. I picked Ogden Nash because he is funny and this has been quoted a multitude of times. Do not remember the source but hopefully everyone understands what I implied. If you wish to quote an NRA issue with O'Bama, you simply give the quote, reference American Rifleman with page number, issue (e.g., Oct 2008) and author of the statement. Nobody can then fault you.
