Thumbs up Recent pics of my tomato garden

Pics taken today, 8/3/08. The ten plants are bearing enough to give most of them away. My wife cut up and froze several last week for use later in chili. Squirrels are getting a few...but not enough to worry about this season. My trap is setting there ready to use, though, if necessary.

Your birdbath invites the squirrels to come eat your tomatoes. Look at it, it has squirrels carved in stone on it.

Thanks, knightRider. This has been my best year ever for tomatoes because of great weather conditions here in KC.

Ox,
Holy Moly...there's some tomatoes growing in your garden, wow!

...and, I can almost smell the salsa/pico de gallo.

Are you growing any peppers, jalapeno type, onions and garlic?

livetoshoot...yes, and if you look closely you'll see four Jalapeņo pepper vines at the right side of the one picture. Funny thing, though, is that I thought I was buying bell peppers at Wall Mart to plant. The labels showed bell peppers, etc. Now that the vines are maturing, it's obvious that Jalapeno peppers were actually what was planted.

That is a nice looking garden Ox. You darn well should be proud of that tomato factory.

Thumbs up

These tomatoes were harvested yesterday. My ten vines are rapidly ripening and we've gotten about this many tomatoes on more than one day recently. Wish some of you g&g members were closeby and I'd give you as many as you want. My wife is processing some of them, we're giving away lots of them to friends and neighbors, and we've still got more than we know what to do with.

I think the ideal growing season this year, along with having good soil, has contributed a lot to the unusually good harvest.

And lastly, many squirrels in my yard were "relocated" so they've not been the same problem as in previous years.

HMMM Those look good! Wish I were there to partake in the free tomatoes! I'll have a bunch next year though. I was thinking about trying to put some in this season, but I got to it too late :-/
