Whats the difference besides the width of .177 pellets and .22 cal pellets?

Hey guys, There are alot of air rifles on the market today chamberd for .177 but most people say for more knockdown power go for a .22 cal air rifle. What is the real differnce between a .177 cal pellet and a .22 cal pellet?

The weight. The .177 is 7 1/2gr and I think the .22,s are around 10gr but not sure. Also the .177 doesnt have as much drag so it has range advantage. sam.

Yep - "Light and fast" vs. "Slow and heavy", on a smaller scale.

And the .177's are cheaper, due to less lead and to the fact they are more common.

Years ago I used a pellet gun for vermin control, nothing bigger that a rat or pigeon. The .177 always penetrated better.

If I put BB's in my pellet guns it will ruin them. It would be just like dry firing them. I'm wondering what kind of pellet gun you shoot?
