Question Holster style for a big guy

Hi all I have some questions about holsters and you all seem to be a fairly knowledgable group of enthusiast so I wanted to ask you first. I am not a skinny guy but I do want to get a holster for my Taurus 24/7 40S&W. I had someone ask me in person what level holster I wanted and I didn't have an answer so with a little research on my behalf I found out that I want a retention level 1 holster. Looked at paddle holsters that ride high and that just looks uncomfortable for me and my weapon So the question is what kind of holsters are you big guys carrying for your concealed carry rig? Did you also use that same holster when you took your class and had to qualify on the range? I am just wanting something right now that will be comfortable enough to get me used to wearing the weapon for now and will be easier to conceal at a later date and not rub a raw spot in my ribs. Thanks for any help and advice I appreciate it. Later Medic

I use an Ace IWB holster that I bought on Cheaper Than Dirt for under $8. It is thick leather, soft against the body. Sturdy belt clip and firs my gun perfectly. Cheaper than dirt has a feature called "Holster Wizzard" that you put in your gun model and it will give you holsters that fit. Great site. No need to spend hundreds of dollars on a holster.

I weigh 250 lbs and 6'2" tall, and the most comfortable rig for me is Milt Sparks VM2HS IWB holsters. I've used a lot of different holsters over the years and now I only use two of the VM2's, for two different CCW's that I have.

I'm 6'1", 220 lbs. I carry my Ruger P89 mostly in a Don Hume Open Top belt holster covered by an untucked shirt. If I want to carry IWB, I use a Bianchi suede. They make one for about every gun and they aren't too pricey, but mine is actually one I got originally for my Rossi .357 (S&W K/L frame). When I switched to carrying the Ruger, I just put in another stitch to take it up around the trigger. Works well, and carries the Ruger very low so only the grip is above my waistband.

I'm 6'8" and likely about 340. My MDs scale doesn't go that tall or heavy. I just stick a pistol inside my shirt and under my pants belt, I've carried like that for about 31 years. Never lost a gun.
