Attaching Your Photos

Since I visit this forum several times a day through a business computer system, I'm often frustrated because the "security" filtering software does not allow us to see photos posted on "storage" websites such as PhotoBucket, Flickr, etc. Therefore, until I get home in the evening, I can't be awed by the looks of what - from the comments - are some very, very nice Mosins. Just one more frustration of many...

However, I've picked up on the fact that many people don't know how to add pictures to their posts except for uploading them to a web storage site and then adding the photo link to the post through the regular Quick Reply posting window.

Here's the quick and dirty of how to add your photo to a post where it displays a thumbnail, so when the thumbnail is clicked you have a nicely sized view of the photo:

Photo 1. Go advanced. That's right at the bottom of the regular Quick Reply window.

Photo 2. That brings up your advanced window with smileys, etc.

Photo 3. Right below the advanced window, you'll find a section called Additional Options. Click on the Manage Attachments button.

Photo 4. That will bring up a pop-up window like this one. Now, here you can either browse through your computer's "My Pictures" folder or wherever else you have designated for picture storage, or you can put in the URL of the photo you have stored on the photo storage website.

Photo 5. As you can see, I've uploaded a photo from my computer to the post. There are six upload picks there, but I don't know what the top limit is. I've loaded as many as eight by uploading six, then two more. When you're done selecting photos, you can either close the window or just click on the Gun and Game Forum button on the taskbar at the base of your window to take you back to the main reply window. Not to worry. When you publish your post, the pop-up window will normally close automatically.

Photo 6. If you wish, you can preview your post to make certain you have all your attachments. If it's a single picture, not usually a problem...
Then, all you have to do is submit your post. And, voila! Even those of us with software-crippled systems can see your thumbnail pictures displayed right there at the bottom of your post!

Thumbs up

That's how I post all my pictures. Here's a couple showing two of my guns...Remington 700 BDL 30.06 w/3x9x40 scope used for deer season, and a Belgian made Browning Sweet Sixteen which I used this past season for turkey season.

Love the looks of that BDL! And a Belgian Browning? Pardon the expression, but: Sweeet!

Way I used to do it, but seems like I ran into storage problems on the site.

Thanks for making this thread. A lot of people don't know how to attach photos. I'm gonna move this to the keg so everybody can see.

I learned alot. Make it a sticky or FAQ. Is This compatible for Linux? My brother had been sending me some real good jokes and I would love to post them.

Chris, would you rather we do this, instead of linking to our pic's on photobucket or similar sites? Which one uses less of your bandwidth?
