Norinco and Polytech these days

Aren't they still in business? And don't they still import other kinds of guns like shotguns? I'm trying to find information on the SAS-12 shotgun from SOG, and an ad on Gunbroker said it was Chinese. So those are the first two companies that come to mind. I'd think they'd have a website. Anyone know? What about other Chinese companies?

i know Klinton banned all CHI/COM AK's, SKS, clone1911, and ammo, don't know of any others. i'd buy American, more accessories available, replacement parts, etc. but thats me, its your money spend as you see fit. i would like to get a High Standard HB-10. a semi auto bullpup shotgun, with carrying handle and built in flashlight. came out in the 60's, and very sleek!!!

I'd say. Any pictures out there of them? The reason I'm considering the Chinese SAS-12 is that it uses a detachable mag and is otherwise well shaped for a shotgun. I'm not as big on the appearance and apparent ergonomics of the Omega SPS-12 and Saiga 12, though they are contenders. Also considering the Valtro pump, though it costs more.

I seen a Norinco .45 1911 clone in a local gun store last fall. Kept looking at it but couldn't bring myself to buy it for some reason. Guess it was the prospect of having a chinese .45 that didn't sit well with me! Some guy later said that was a good decision on my part as he knew a guy that had one and the frame cracked.

NRAJoe, the funny thing about the Norinco .45's was that Wilson Combat rated them as one of the BEST .45 clones on the market. They actually preferred to work on the Norincos over the Auto Ordnance models!

Way back when in my broke E-4 days I bought a Norchinco .45. I intended to use and abuse it as a beginner pistol. Not afraid to take it apart and look at it's brain and guts, shoot the crap out of it etc..

I always wanted to upgrade to a nice American .45 Spring, Kimber, Colt. But never really got the cash flow to duplicate something I already had.

I hate to admit it but the dang thing works. Accurate, reliable, the whole 9 yards. (BTW my only foreign gun of any type)

I guess if I had to shoot someone (justified) I'd rather them take that gun and throw it around at the cop shop than a $900 Kimber.

I've practiced with a Norinco 1911, seems great. Not as good as another friend's Para Ord match accessorized though.

Norinco is still in business. As long as the Red Army exists, so will Norinco. Poytech was just a brand name spin-off. Kind of like GM and Cadillac. Rifles were all made in the same 326,366, and 386 factories.
Norinco .45's are a great pistol for the price.
Regards.

:assult: Both Norinco and Polytech are still in business. Norinco stands for China Northern Ind. Corp. Norinco make alot of civilian products like forklifts and motorcycles. Polytech only makes military products.

Polytech is run by the People's Liberation Army.

The last I heard the Red Army still reported to Moscow.

Haven't you heard? The Soviet Red Army no longer exists, they aren't commies any more.
NORINCO is the PLA. Poly technologies is/was an export agent. It's just a brand name. the money all goes to the same place-The Red Chinese Army
NORINCO has 19 factories that manufacture small arms based on the Kalashnikov weapons system. They have a total of 157 factories that manufacture these and other types of weapons. They also have many factories that manufacture products for non-military applications.
Regards.

a few years ago before Kimber 45's & other off the shelf customized 45's a lot of people were using Norinco's as the base gun to customize instead of spending the $ on a colt that everythings going to be replaced on anyway.

You are right about poly tech and Norinco, I was misinformed by another website. Poly tech is run bu the PLA General staff dept and norinco is run by the minestry of machinery & electronics.
(http://www.churchward.com/cpla/9e.html) All agents of the PLA.

The wall came down, eh? I meant The Red Army "use to" report, not "still".

Haven't you heard?
"The military forces of the Chinese Communist Party--established as the "Red Army" in 1927 and renamed the "Chinese People's Liberation Army" in 1948--defeated the armies of the reigning Republic of China in the 1946-1949 civil war. " from Dr. H. Miller. National Security Affairs Dept, Naval Postgraduate School.

Also, the Chinease air force is the PLAAF and the navy is the PLAN, the People's Liberation Army Air Force and the People's Liberation Army Navy.
Regards

Norinco and Poly Tech are dummy compaines set up by the PLA to sell stuff to other countries. It is a lot eaiser for PLA officer Wang Dong to sell stuff to us stupid American capitalist pigs if he wears a business suit and hands out business cards with Norinco printed on them.
A little history lesson:
May 1994 then President Clinton sent a letter to the BATF and they banned the import of all Chinese guns and ammo.
1996 V.P. Gore went to a Democrat Party fundraiser at a buddist temple in Califorina. He received several million dollars total in donations for the DNC from several Chinese businessmen(PLA officers undercover) and Chinese American businessmen.
Right after this 6000 Norinco model 320 semi automatic 9mm Uzi carbines were allowed to be imported from China in 1996. Also pump, semi auto, single shot, and double barrel 12 gauge shotguns. The only guns and ammo allowed to be imported from China after 1996 are shotguns.
