russian 2x4

Ok, I shot my first m44. the kick was not as bad as you all say. my groups need work. the bolt it stiff. ok with an empty rifle. but a stiff cycle. yes the m44 is clean. I think it will work its self in , in time. The m44 look unfired. , until now. normal break in ?? or look for a mil srrplus Russian 2x4 ?

My 91/30 was tough to cycle the first 20 rounds I shot.

But I have noticed that, either due to the cleaning after or just more shooting, the 20 rounds I shot last night were much easier.

Hopefully that is the case, and your m44 will also lighten up get easier to cycle.

we shot Sat & Sunday. about 70 rounds total. I think the rifle just needs to be shot in. the more the better.

Somebody said that cosmoline residue in the chamber will make the fired case stick, and that makes the bolt hard to unlock. Ima fixin' to address that problem myself. I've heard that a brass brush soaked with Hoppes, on a cleaning rod in a drill, will help to scrub that crud out.

What kind of ammo were you using? because i had the same problem with Albanian surplus, but when I used new Prvi partizan ammo it worked just fine.

I noticed that my Hex doesn't like to be rapid-fired. If I shoot 5 quickly, the bolt wants to hang up and force me to force it. If I eject the spent case and let the chamber 'breathe' a few seconds, it will chamber the next round easily.
I took my 'new' Tula out last Friday and tried it to see if it does the same thing. The short answer is that it chambered each round very easliy no matter how fast I worked the bolt.
Maybe the Hex rifles were made to tighter tolerances. I know it wasn't cosmolene residue. I clean them well before I shoot them.

It was Bulgarian. I got a deal. I'll try Prvi & see what happens. Thanks.

Blow the chamber out with brake cleaner or carb cleaner. Spray down the bolt as well and you should not have any problems.

I did all that, and my M44 still had sticky bolt with the Czech lacquered stuff. It took the shotgun brush in my drill thing to get it to stop.

None of my Mosin like the lac.- case stuff, Copper washed shoot great as well as Mil-suplus Brass cased. Priv-Part. shoots great as well (1980s and 1990s). I've heard it many times here, just keep sampling (feeding it) till you find what it likes to be feed (eat)!
