Smile For those valiantly serving in the noble cause for freedom...

For those valiantly serving in the noble cause for freedom...wherever you serve and whatever your uniform.

May God continue to protect and equal you up in your valiant service...and watch over your loved ones while you're away...

...thank you.

wow...I'm not sure why three copies of the video appear, or why the link doesn't connect.

I will! I'm getting ready to go into overtime worry wart, again. My oldest son, who's on the waterskiing thread, is going back over, this time with an assault unit. He always tells me, don't worry. Easier said, than done, when the dad has been there, and done that. Sometimes, I think it would be easier on me, if I had never seen combat. But, who's to say.....

Damn it, it's my job to worry about them!

Yes it is, and to keep him and his family in your prayers too...

...because we do know what it's like to be in harms way.

My nephew-in-law departs for Afghanistan soon.

Well, good luck to him. Hope it goes well and he comes back safe. I have an acquaintance in the Marine Reserves going in September, he's housemates with a friend of mine.

We offer up prayers for all of 'em, and hope for their safe return. But when one of my children goes, it makes life hard, for this ole fella. God bless 'em, one and all!!

My old unit just shipped out again, this time for Afghanistan. Those guys were kids when I was in and now they look old. These wars are taking their tolls and not just in body counts. I hope they all live to tell the tales.

As a parent we always worry about our children and more especially so in times of known danger to them. But here on this forum we have a great bunch of folks who worry along with us and like us, pray for their safety and/or recovery. Thanks to you all and God bless and protect all our Vets. and our sick or injured.

Great post LTS. May God protect them all and keep them from harm. If you guys didn't worry about them then I would be worried.

I learned yesterday morning that a co-worker made it through the MEPS rigor and he'll report for basic training on 9-11-08, beginning his journey in the US Army Airborne...

...and, as a retiree, I encouraged/helped him to get a guaranteed MOS, first duty assignment, and select an MOS that would serve him well during and after his military service. He was also able to get a $15K incentive bonus because of the MOS he chose. I'm also trying to help him get mentally/physically ready for what's ahead.

My son headed out, yesterday morning. My daughterinlaw said they told her communications is going to be iffy, onboard the ship. I guess he didn't want to start me worrying.
