I love my AK but after seeing this Vz58 my greed wants it too. One Beautiful rifle but I know little about them. What can I expect from it in comparision to AKs? VZs have weaknesses? How is it's accuracy and endurance? Please help..TY
One diffrence between the AK and the VZ is that the VZ is milled from a forging and the AK's are milled and stamped; but oddly enough the VZ is considerablly lighter than the AK.. If its a VZ-52/57 then it should weigh the same as the AK. the '58 uses a striker instead of a hammer, and it has a chrome-plated bolt. And the '58 doesn't have the gas piston pinned to the bolt carrier..
In reality this gun should be priced lower and it would have been if not for ATF reg's. Since all VZ's have been full auto the recievers could not just be adapted to match our laws, they had to be completely replaced. D-Technik was commisioned to redesign the receivers.. Then there was the barrel to deal with.. the 58's originally had 15 1/3 in barrels.. So then they paid to replace them with 16.14 in barrels..
this all adds up, which is why they cost what they do.. As for accuracy probably better than some AKs you've shot and MAYBE worse than some others (3" @ 100yrds).. Less kick than the AK for sure. Another thing to consider when buying is that the AK mags will NOT work with the VZ-58!! that's good and bad.. Not EVERYWHERE like AK mags but the VZ mags will keep the slide OPEN when the clip is empty, which I think most us like!
TY Rimjob. Mucho appreciato. Was considering the Vz side folder for $895.00 or a Yugo under folder for $650. Both new. Which do you think is the better bargin? Would a Vz58 be worth the extra $250?
