Thank you, Bro Bob, for the thoughtful input. That is exactly what my son said, when he got back, from Iraq, last October. He's getting ready to deploy, again.
That kind of mentality got us bombed a half dozen times with thousands of U.S. casualties. Rave, did you get an Honorable Discharge?????
There you go again, just can't stand an opinion different than yours.
Not that it's any of your business, but since you again try to discredit me as an American, yes I did.
Your intolerance betrays your character.Perhaps I was wrong in my assesment of you.
Have a nice day.

Lets say the crazy neighbor across town really wants a piece of your ass and you know it. You know when he gets his truck fixed he will be coming after you. If he takes you out he will finally get some from big Maudie and her sisters. Now lets say you don't know when or even if he will get his truck fixed. All you know is he has you in his sights and there is nothing you can do to change it. To further complicate things, you don't even know what he or the truck look like. He could walk right up to you and you wouldn't know it. The only thing you know is where he lives. What do you do?
I don't know,kill every one in town?

I don't need to discredit you Rave. You do a good enough job on your very own without any help.
Bro Bob, much as I like you, I'm going to have to slap you up alongside the head. Asking Rave whether he got an honorable discharge was a cheap shot. Shame on you, Bro. Go have a Crown and cola and meditate on the error of your ways.
As far as Iraq goes, I still think it was a mistake and an unnecessary sidetrack; we should've been going after the Taliban and Al Queda instead. And I think your assessment is a little on the rosy side. But I'll agree things are looking better over there now, and I hope they continue to improve.
That said, have you noticed that Bush's people and the Iraqi government are negotiating a timetable for withdrawal of our forces; first from the cities to bases, and then from the bases? What happened to all the bs that doing that would play into the terrorists' hands, etc? Where are all the conservative talking heads who told us endlessly that anyone who even talked about a timetable was a coward and possibly a traitor, and was backstabbing and abandoning the brave Iraqi people?
I for one, hope this is just another attempt to put one and one together, and come out with three. My son is headed back, and I'd rather not have to see them embroiled in another conflict. The worry is beginning to wear me down.
You know, ...... , .... I just deleted one of the best rebuttals I have ever come up with. I could see no compelling reason to turn a skirmish into a full blown war, as I usually save that for face-to-face situations where nothing said or done can be mis-interpreted. With that being said, I'll just say that I had my reason for questioning his motive/patriotism and it was not my intent to raise your ire, too. I steer clear of your sometimes heated debates and I would appreciate you showing me the same courtesy. I will deal with Rave in a more discreet manner from now on and not involve the forum at large. Have a good day.

'The cause is just. It is an honor for France and its armies to defend them,' said Sarkozy, who will travel Tuesday night to Afghanistan, the Defense Ministry said."
You still wanna bash the country the dead soldiers fighting a part in one of our wars came from?

I'd hate to be in his shoes. He has an awful lot of Muslims residing in his country.
Lighten up Coel, it was just meant as a joke, jeesh, you must be french..
But perhaps it was in poor taste. If so, I apologise to anyone offended.
Heh, I'm pretty far from French. head to the Georgia thread to see that.
I dunno, I'm sort of tired of seeing the old joke paraded out when they're helping us in the real mess that needs addressing and dying for it while we still waste time in Iraq because we can't just abandon it now after all that's happened.
last time i checked.
they dont tell where submarines are.
thats why they exist.
they are supposed to be a suprise.
That's right, Billy. I belonged to Sub Group VI and I assure you that there are very few who know where our subs are at any given time. That's all I can say. Anymore and the government would kill me and all on this forum, including all friends an relatives!
