I'm really looking for a good range gun but something that could at some point be c/c'd. I considered the Sig 250 which is supposedly made for these types of conversions, but I would much rather go with the Springfield.

Thanks Scot
Can only relate my own experience with conversion barrels. I purchased a 9mm competition grade barrel from Lone Wolf Distr. for my G22 Glock .40 S&W. It made all the difference in the world as far as shooting it goes. With the conversion barrel I could shoot hundreds of rounds before getting tired and the accuracy was excellent. The cost of shooting 9mm vs. the .40 was a real plus. I never had a single hiccup with the standard .40 barrel or the 9mm competition grade barrel in that Glock. All that for only $99 plus S&H charge. The LW conversion barrel was a simple drop in barrel and no smithing was required.

Great info, that's what I wanted to hear. The conversion from 40-9mm.

Just got off the phone with Springfield Armory. Apparantly they won't be available for purchase from dealers for about two months. So around November, start lookin around for them poppin up. Till then, its all about the .40S&W.

I picked up the October issue of Guns and Ammo at the grocery store on the way home from work today. After supper I glanced through the magazine and noticed a few full-page ads from Springfield Armory with a photo of the XD(m)-9. It is shown in the two-tone (like my .40). It is on the brink of coming out, so since this is the October issue, I would agree that it will probably be in the November time frame before we'll see one in person. It did say it holds 19+1 rounds. Later, B

There are no problems. The barrels are made exactly the same... dimensionally and material wise. You remove the original barrel, simply install the different caliber barrel in it's place. I've changed from .40 S&W to .357 SIG ... back and forth, no problems.

I got the latest issue of GunWorld yesterday and page 9 had a full page ad for the XD-M 9mm 19 +1. No mention anywhere of an ETA in the marketplace. Hopefully before Christmas .

Going to the gun show this morning in Pasadena, Texas to look for the duotone version of the XD-M .40 as that is actually next on my to buy list.

The 9MM XDM was also in the NRA's magazine "American Rifleman".

Not a single XD-M of any sort at the gun show today. Several subcompact XD-9s and XD-40s available and still holding at $480 price level.

Just received from Springfield

I sent an email to Springfield over the weekend and this was the response;

Good morning,
I don’t have an actual date for the release of the XD(M) 9mm, but I would expect
it in the next couple weeks.
Thank you for your interest in Springfield!
Enjoy the day!

I wonder how much longer it will take to trickle down after they do start to ship? It makes a big difference in the quantity shipped. But whatever it will be, it will be nice to finally see this one.

I spoke with the guy at Gander and he confirmed that they should be out in a few weeks but he wasn't sure how they'll be sent out and if they'll be readily available.

I'll bet they are going to be hot like the LCP is and it will be a while before we see them stocked and readily available. I called Bud's and they told me it would be months before thay have them. Luckily for me I own a 9MM XD so I want one but don't need one.

My thoughts exactly, they'll probably be selling well over MSRP when they first hit. I guess time will tell. Whn I was at Gander yesterday, the salesman told me and showed me the list for the LCP. They still have over 20 names waiting to get one. the weird thing is that I was at a local gun/pawn shop and they have 5 in stock. You would think that Gander with their size would have plenty to go around but they've only gotten in 10 since they were released. I'm glad I got mine when I did, I don't see those prices coming down anytime soon.

A local dealer in Big Pine Key has 3 LCP's in stock too but he wants $385 for them. I just can't get myself to pay over MSRP. Just a personal thing.

I wish I had your willpower. I'm sure I'll be paying ton for it as soon as it hits the market.

I'm sure I would too if I didn't have a 9MM XD now. I'm going to try to wait but no promises.....

Can't say I blame you there. I only paid $249 for my LCP the first week they were available. They are definitly not worth $385 in my opinion. If someone were to offer me $385 for mine I would sell in a NY minute. But at $249 I like mine just fine.
