Well folks I bought a Ruger pc9 carbine a few months ago and its been a real challenge for this old reloader!! I bought it new for $375 which was a good price. Wanted to see if it would shoot lead cast bullets which it does very well. However to get an accurate load took me hours and hours of frustrating time to say the least! My best load from a saeco 141 truncated cone bullet is 5.4 grains of blue dot with a small rifle primer. Best group is 1 and a half inches at 50 yds. It shoots lead better than jacketed for me. anyone else have one of these pea shooters? It is reliable and rarely jams even with lead. It also can take a +p+ load very well and seems well built but I think the accuracy is lacking but what do iIexpect from a 9mm rifle?Also put on a leupold 2 to 7 scope on it as my eyes arent that good anymore

I've had a PC9 for a couple of years and no problems with ammo yet, haven't shot any lead only jacketed. Not a target rifle but a fun gun that could be used for close hunting for small game. Uses 9mm P series magazines, all of mine work. I'm sure there are others that have one of these, maybe someone else will post something about this gun.

Jim c2 Have you sighted in yours at the range or just plink at cans? Do you use the iron sights I found them pretty iffy. I hear they came with ghost ring sights but even Brownells doesnt have them any more. Plus how do you put a sling on this gun? Hey beernuts if you find one be prepared for a not very accurate rifle. However I hear it will shoot rings around that High point piece of junk!!!! It takes as hot a load like a +p++ load very well so its pretty strong. The stock is strange as the trigger group wont come out but the trigger isnt to bad. Ruger could have done a better job I think. Ive seen some going for as much as 600 for a new one so I guess 375 wasnt too bad plus now I have another weapon to shoot 9s other than my pistol. Any one else have one of these? Hows it working for you?

I bought it before the Obama rush at a gun shop. It had no box and might have had a few rounds through it. I took it out to the woods and had a ball even though I saw no game.!! I would pick out a knot on a maple tree 50 yds out and it shot a 2 inch group offhand ten rounds. Then I put a bean can out at 80 yds slightly uphill and ventilated it. Then I put a primer tray on a wire from a small oak and hit it 2 or three times easily on 2 power. I was amazed at the penetration at 80 yds it went right through the 2 inch oak , I said to myself if that was a coyotes head he would be dead for sure. It was worth the time to tweak it and its so cheap to shoot. Probably less than a 22 now!!!

Kcoyboy, mine has a notch rear sight, was an option when I got mine. I use a 3x9 scope on it because I can't see too well any more. I don't have a sling on it but there is a place to attach one on the barrel band and on the butt stock. The one on the barrel band is held by the screw for the band. I had three P series 9mm Rugers so I had to get this rifle and also it gave me an excuse to get those really long mags that look really strange in a pistol. It isn't a target rifle but you can make one ragged hole with it at 50 or 75 yards with a scope.

Hey Jimc2 hello I live in Northern Ky . Do you get on Kentucky Hunting Forums. Its a great place for fellow Kentuckians to talk. You know my rifle didnt shoot jacketed bullets that well . but was sure glad when it shot my lead casting bullets. that 147 grain has a whallop even on creek rocks!! I did like the way it would handle +p+ loads that I made without a hitch. but again the accuracy wasnt up to par. yes I like the way that 32 round clip works in the gun. Kind of looks like a machine gun!! now my question for you -- Is your barrel band made to use sling swivals? Mine isnt and its a bi. I jerry rigged a swival stud in front of the band which works but I have to unscrew in to take the band off to disassemble the gun. Brownells doesnt have anymore bands so Im trying to figure something else out. have agood one from Kentucky a gun loving state!!!!

The front sling swivel on mine has is flat on one end and the barrel band screw goes thru it. The ends of the band clamp down on it. You might find it on the exploded parts pages in the manual, if you have one.
Didn't know there was a KY forum. Need to do a search for it.

You might be able to order the swivel from Ruger, think you need the band too.

The picture doesn't show these but they are listed in the parts. Not sure what the Adapter is, maybe you should ask first.

i bought my carbine new, years ago for about $500. the clips from my ruger p85 pistol fits my carbine, which is one of reasons i had to have it. plus i heard it was to be taken off the market and was only to be sold for law enforcement only. i've used it for hog hunting, its pretty effective. i put a tasco shotgun 4X scope on it for quick aquistion. i also put a modified flash supressor, for dress up.
