Well this got some good answers and some good debate thrown in. Thank you all for reading and taking part.
I think everyone got the questions right except for the FP-10 part.
I kinda wanta throw this in about the chrome bolt carrier though....if it is not getting the chrome dirty....just means the dirt is going somewhere else.
Barrel break in: Me personaly I own a Kreiger Barrel and on there web site is a whole secion dedicated to barrel break in. Now some of the newer barrels have diamond lapped bores and well I am sure they are always coming out with something new.
FP-10 was originated at General motors by a guy whos name I do not know but you can still by FP-10 at most general motors locations. It is known as General motors top end engine cleaner.
Good answers people!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanx for playing along.

Ditto all of you on the "tumbling bullet" thing. I can't stand how ignorant all these media-types are... even these quasi-intellectuals with their books and degrees have no idea what they're talking about when they get into guns. I am in college with a thousand screaming liberals who think they've got all the answers and it drives me insane cause they're so ignorant that I don't even know where to start when I argue with them...

Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes."

| 5.56mm round easily deflected by blade of grass in vietnam?
Another ques./myth that i always hear.During the Vietnam war, one reason
the M16 FAILED was because the light .223 round would easily get deflected by the tall grass out in the fields thereby missing its target,vs the AK ROUND,7.62mm,which very successful due to its heavier & powerful round. true?TIA

What does the A.R.in AR15 stand for ???
Why was the AR ( sorry I do not know the offical millitary designation ) such a failure in Vietnam & Korea ??
If you have a chrome bolt carrier....do you need to clean your weapon as often ??
Do you need to break in a new barrel ??
Does Obama want your guns ???
Shooters choice makes a solvent named FP-10. What was its original name and where can else can you buy it ???
Twist rates & bullet weight....does it really matter ???
Well those are just a few I am sure there are more out there but give these your best shots and lets see what we can come up with.
NOTICE I SAID NOTHING ABOUT ZOMBIES OR SWIMMING TO THE BOTTOM OF A LAKE TO HIDE GUNS !!!!!!!!! | AR stands for assault rifle
It was not in the Korean war at all and it was not a failure in Nam, once they issued cleaning kits and chrome lined the chamber it was a just as good as any service rifle out there.
An AR or any rifle for that matter should be cleaned after heavy use.
I like to break in barrels correctly, but that is up for debate.
No Obama himself doesn't want your guns because he is scared of them, but he doesn't want you or I to own them.
Twist rates and bullet grains are very specific. For a heavier bullet you want a 1:7 and a lighter bullet you want a 1:9

Hey Beer
The A.R. stands for Armorlite...they kinda created the gun. I think the guys name is J.B. Stoner ???? I am not too good with names so someone else may want to Dbl check that one on me.
I should have said Vietnam or Korea as I was too young for either one.

you mean 500 yd. headshots all day long with a .22 short dont really happen?
p.s.
that all day long phrase cracks me up.
if a guy can shoot a 1/2 MOA groups all day long.
show me 1 target with 25 5 shot groups on it.
and a reliable witness.
maybe then i will believe it.

I shoot quarter size targets all day at 500 yards with iron sights but I was a Navy SEAL. Ok, not really, I could'nt pass the training so they just made me a Navy Otter.

Wouldn't you destroy a rhino with a .22?

This is my favorite military rifle, and unfortunately it's one of the most misunderstood.
One myth is it won't handle desert conditions. The media, and the gun magazines have been jumping all over that one for awhile now along with the supposed low stopping power of the 5.56mm NATO projectile.
I'll tell you up front that if you maintain proper cleaning discipline, the rifle will run forever. On a recent training exercise, I ran 3,200 rounds of low grade blank ammunition (which is tons dirtier than the standard M-855 ammunition) through my standard issue M4. The only thing I had to do was spray a quick extra coating of CLP on the bolt through the ejection port around the 2,000 round mark. I fired that rifle so much, that I set the CLP that collected on the Blank Firing Adapter on fire. These guns are among the best in the world. They are reasonably accurate (don't expect to engage targets over 400 meters with 100% accuracy), and they will run forever if taken care of.
