I'm chomping at the bit myself. Been using my dads 1936 model 94 the last few years but no longer feel comfortable dragging it through the woods given it's now worth about 1500 bucks. Long story about why I didn't have my own rifle. Anyway...just put a new Remington 770 on layaway. Now before I get the replies on this gun...I already know full well what I bought, it's a budget rifle and I'm fine with it. I'm looking forward to taking everyones money for first buck (everbody kicks in 5 bucks). This year it's all mine!

I got an early start on deer hunting. My brother-in-law gave me a crop damage tag from the farm that he works on, so he and I went out and sat for an afternoon, I shot a doe (The tag is only good for does.) Going to be butchering her up this afternoon.

I haven't hunted in several years, but last year i picked up a '95 Spanish Mauser scout rifle project that the previous owner didn't quite finish.

It has a nice piece of walnut on it but it has a cheap no name scope and the barrel needs to be shortened a bit more (23 inches now but will be 18 inches soon.)

it still comes to the shoulder fast and smooth and sure makes me want to sit in a cold stand on a frosty morning waiting for a nice buck to come along.

I am so ready, me and my wife has gotten out and got the rifles and muzzleloaders sighted in and ready to roll, bought a new TC Triumph and it is a very fine shooter, and my new CVA Optima Pro with the 29" Bergara barrel is fine shooting as well, just eager to get in the woods
