New P2000

I took my new P2000 to the range today. The pistol is very accurate and points well, functions perfectly and well balanced. HOWEVER, the trigger leaves a lot to be desired. I have a small collection and the H&K has the dubious distinction of having the longest trigger pull of any pistol I have ever fired.
It seems like a two stage trigger. After the initial pull the trigger seems to stop and then gets a little gritty for the second half of the pull. I had three very qualified pistol shooters with me and everyone complained about the LONG trigger. You almost have to change hand positions to get the pistol to fire.
This can't be right. The pistol is completely stock without the LEM trigger.

Any suggestions other than contacting H&K and sending the weapon in which I don't want to do.
