Talking yippie yahooooo!!!!!!

Just got back from the doctors (spineologist) and he says my herniated disc seems to be healing itself. No need for surgery!
Evidently this happens in 80% of cases similar to mine. What a relief!
Just had to share the good news with all you fine folk.
G&G sure has been a great place to pass alot of time while I've been recuperating. All you nutty people kept me somewhat sane. Kept me from listening to those voices in my head ('cept for the one that nagged & nagged until I finally bought tha Mosin)
Only thing is it looks like I'll be going back to work just when bowhunting season starts upAnd I gotta be resposable....Yuck!
Oh well I'm really just kidding. I always find a way.
Anyhoo a big THANKS to everyone for making me feel welcome here.
......and where the heck is billy? Really starting to worry here.

Hooray for you

We were not so lucky as my wife had to have two vertebra fused a few years ago.

Take care of your back and good luck. If you are somewhat overweight go on a rapid yet medically safe weight reduction program.

Great news. I've had three spinal surgeries - no fusions, just where they snip off the herniation. Each surgery was a little more painful with a little longer recovery, but I've been out of pain and feeling good for several years now.

From what I've read, after two years the doctors found that the patients who did NOT have surgery were at about the same state as those that DID have the surgery. I think all in all, there will be a reduction in back surgerys, albeit very slight. There are also some new procedures for artificial disks, but you have to be skinny (I'm not) so I'm hoping my back behaves from here on out. Again, great news on your back - just be careful when doing things around the house, and don't let anybody talk you into helping them move! Later, B

Does that mean your disk ruptured or is going back into place?

Thanks again. I love this site.
The way doc explained it, the herniation is kinda like the jelly squeezing out of a doughnut(his words). He said after a while it shrivels up enough to relieve the pressure on the sciatic(spelling?) nerve that the pain goes away. It can almost disappear. I'm sure all cases are unique. I sure feel lucky, that's for sure. Doc told me they only operate about 10% of cases now, so I guess your right bassoneer. Hope you have no more issues with your back. Again thank you all!!

tagurit did your doctor put you on a series of high dose's of steriods ? If he didn't NOW would be a good time to start them.
They will srenghten the disc and basicly they will pop back in to place AND you'll probably never have anymore trouble.
Ask your doctor about this treatment PLEASE...A.H
