Lightbulb Gunning for the NRA

Gunning for the NRA

A 12-year-old boy who tried to wear a T-shirt he got at summer camp featuring the silhouettes of three target shooters was told by administrators to turn the shirt inside out because the images of people shooting guns violated school policy, reports The Daily Progress.

Alan Newsom came home from school discouraged, confused and "a little angry," his father said, after being told the shirt, which bears the words "NRA Sports Shooting Camp," was inappropriate. The boy shoots a .22 caliber rifle at paper targets at the Rivanna Rifle and Pistol Club, his father said.

The National Rifle Association is suing the school in U.S. District Court, claiming its administrator's decision violated Alan's rights to free speech and due process. NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre said in a statement that the case is clearly one of "political correctness running unchecked."

You know... people are asked to be tolerant by these liberal types but all of a sudden when the tables are turned they're crying foul. Hypocrites, every one of them. Let the kid be proud of his achievements.

Good! The NRA is one of the last bastions of freedom against the radical left! This has got to stop! You ARE allowed to wear what you want...this is America after all!

SUE THEM!!! SUE THEM!!!! SUE THEM!!!
SUE THE HE11 OUT OF THEM.

If he had come to school with a T-shirt advertising the vagina monologs he would have been carried around on some of the teachers shoulders, just more of the NEA crap.

Just sent my dues to the NRA yesterday. Its not much money but multiply it by a few million and get the kid a darn good lawyer!

The T-shirt had the word "sports" on it. Then they should ban ALL sports related T-shirts. No more football, baseball, etc. How come a shooting sport is "inappropriate" but others are not?? SUE EM!!!!

i remember back in the late 70's the sherriff had a summer rifle range for the kids . i went every summer even got trophies. the police supplied the guns /the ammo/the targets/even the hot dogs and coke at the end of the day . we shot .22 bolt action rifles. and it was free. now you can't pay them to do it. to many anti gunners out there.

I hope there's another school district he can transfer to, cuz they'll make him pay for this regardless of the outcome in court. He'll be quite the popular boy at this school for the rest of his days there. The liberal arts teachers will probably fail him just on gen. principle. So sad, to have a winning argument and still lose the battle.
