How accurate is a Redhawk?

I'm just wondering how well the gun can shoot. I'm getting groups of about 1 1/2 or 2 inches at 50 yards, resting just my elbows on the bench. I'm using a 2x scope and am very aware of my shakiness when sighting through it, so I'm wondering if any of you guys know about how well it might do from a machine rest.

This is with 210 grain jacketed stuff moving at about 1350 fps. I have the 7 1/2 inch model. It seems to do better with this than the 180 grain bullets I started with. Can I expect more accuracy with 240s??

Lots of people, including me, would be happy

with that group at 50 yards. A machine rest is the old story of the two sides of the coin. Yes, you can fine tune with one but on the other hand you will not have one in the field. So, many people take what they can get without one.

I think you need to sandbag the pistol and shoot it that way. This will help with getting it to hit at POA. I think the acccuracy between different weight bullets is different in each individual gun.

Right now I have it sighted in so I'm hitting about 1 1/2 inches high at 50 yards. I figure that should be pretty close to point blank at the 75 or so that will be my longest shot in the deer woods I hunt.

I know groups that size are easily "minute of Whitetail" but I just wonder if the gun can inherently do better. I tried it off a front rest when I first started shooting it, but haven't lately. As I've said on other threads, I used to shoot a scoped 6" Trooper Mk III .357 with pretty good results. My bragging shot with that one is a groundhog that died 135 paced yards from the firing point I shot from a sitting position with my arms braced against my knees. I would like to get this gun to shoot that well.

I used to do some fairly serious benchresting with a rifle, mostly messing with loads rather than the gun. I'm considering using both a front and rear rest, but have never heard of anyone doing that with a handgun. All the reports seem to use a Ransom rest instead. Any of you guys ever use 2 rests with a handgun?
