Pakistan army ordered to fire on U.S. troops

Associated Press - 4:58 P.M. CST Pakistan has ordered its troops to fire on American troops if U.S. forces launch another attack into Pakistan.

"The orders are clear in case it happens again . . . in any form. . .
no ambiguity. . . open fire" - Pakistani Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas.

Wasn't it Bush who gave the post 9-11 speech saying things like
"either you or for us or you are against us" and "we will go anywhere to
fight terror"?

So, with a new president in Pakistan it seems we have hit the
wall, so to speak, in this matter.

Not a political post. The Associated Press released the news story today and all the news media carried Bush's post 9-11 speech.

The Pakis are about some Bada** mountain troops, and their equipment is good. not the newest, but good. Not to mention Nukes.

I guess they're serious about foriegn armies operating on their soil.

Lets hope they get serious aobut foreign terrorists on their soil as well.

According to their statements:

"Pakistan acknowledges the presence of al-Qaida fugitives and its difficulties in preventing militants from seeping into Afghanistan. However, it insists it is doing what it can and paying a heavy price, pointing to its deployment of more then 100,000 troops in the increasingly restive northwest and a wave of suicide bombings across the country."

That's a lot of boots on the sand. They might want to take it up themselves and have us...I know it's a hard concept, actually respect their sovereignity.

"Pakistan's military has won American praise for a six-week offensive against militants in the Bajur tribal region that Pakistani officials say has killed 700 suspected insurgents and about 40 troops. Troops backed by warplanes killed 15 more alleged militants Tuesday, officials said."

So we praise them...then we ignore their border.

It's understandable that hit and run tactics will be the order of the day for terrorist forces, but I still can't understand why we didn't already have procedures in place for following them across the border or having allied forces hit them as they come in.

So true Bob, maybe they need to go without anything we provide them for a while, like food, meds, military supplies,millions in cash, till they learn that it's not nice to bite the hand that feeds you and is the only thing that's keeping India from invading you.

Sure, however India has it's own Nuclear capability and a MUCH larger military force. I would probably put my bet on India if we left Pakistan.

Only a madman would loose nukes on anyone. They are the weapon of last resort or an ace in the hole, if you will. Only a madman would leash out with that type of firepower! All more the reason that we should keep the Middle East out of the nuclear business........

Yes India might be good option in the future. Pakistan has been pretty weird lately. But the nukes. Wouldn't that be great if we said that to Mexico about their army crossing our border?

Do you want to lay money on that? I think India thought that a few years ago and despite it's superior firepower it didn't get very far did it?

The sort of sentiments and superior attitude you've expressed here are just the sort of arrogance that turn other peoples against America & the West.
Pakistan is one of the more moderate muslim countries, at the moment they are with us against the war on terrorism; you don't need to piss them off and get them to change loyalties. Have a loook at the world news, Pakistan suffers a trendous amount of domestic terrorist attacks, just for it's current stance of siding with the West.
We need Pakistan on our side and we need to work with them and not trample roughshod over their sovereignty.
