It's DONE!! RRA lower and Model 1 20" Varmint

I'm pleased!!

Was just rock blasting tonight, but got it dialed in within 2" at 150 yards.. Need to play with some paper at my regular range and get it tweeked in, but so far I'm very happy!!

It's also my first lower that I built from scratch, with help from instructions from AR15.com.. With not having a clue, I'd say I spent about an hour and a half, tops.. Next one will be faster, for sure!!

Very pretty, Paper. What kind of glass and mount do you have up top?

The scope is just a cheapo 3x9/50 Simmons that I had at home. I think it's the same thing that you'll find in most Walmarts on clearance for $30 right now.

The rings are just crappy double ring jobs from (I think, again) Walmart, and the riser is one I picked up for my other rifle on eBay, but ended up using something else..

In other words, the optics and rings/riser were leftovers.
I'll problably change them in the future, but I wanted to shoot it and this stuff was handy.

Thanks Tex!

The lowers are actually fun to assemble, and I'm not a puzzle sorta guy... The biggest thing is to make sure you have a nice light hammer, some tape to protect finishes, and an assortment of punches..
With the ease of assembly, and the huge variations of uppers/stocks/grips/etc... I don't know why someone would consider not building, rather than buying a complete rifle at $300 or more over kit cost.

Of course I'm cheap..

Paper, did you buy the kit from Rock River arms or where did you buy them?

I bought the stripped lower at a shop in Loves Park, IL. I ordered the kit from Model 1 Sales, which included the rest of the gun.
I was sorta torn between the 24" and 20" Varmint kit, but decided to go with the 20".. It's heavy enough as it is.
