M16 Mag Collectible or Not?

I was at a flea market today and found what I believe to be am old m16 mag. It has a metal follower and a symbol that is a letter U with a I in the middle of it. On the bottom it says "M16A1 CAL.5.56MM" "Universal Inds. Div." "Simmonds Prec. Prod. Inc." "West Haven, Conn. U.S.A." I think it's a twenty round. Are these worth more than modern production mags? Are they collectible or should I treat it like any other mag? Either way I gave $8.00 for it so I'm not hurting. Also about what year did they use these? Thanks Pontiacdm
