Thumbs down Pistol Competitions

When I get my MKIII back from Ruger, I would like to try and get into competition target shooting. I know I need more range time to practice, but how does one go about joining a pistol team. Do you need special equipment, gun accessories and/or special gun to shoot?

check practical shooting leagues in your area..the one in my area says you can bring whatever you normally shoot....you need a hip holster for your pistol and tac sling for your rifle...tac vests welcomed if you have one....bring as many mags as you have ...i'm looking to get in after my birthday.

Well, first off...

What specific type of competition are you interested in? Pure target shooting, run-and-gun, action shooting, silhouette, or what?

Hi,the NRA is probably the best people to contact, they will have a list of all Pistol Associations in your area which are affiliated to them and will be able to give you contact details of who can help you out. Or you could just google "(your state,) Pistol Association".

Then, sir, I cordially invite you to check these folks out:
