Here's pics of the boat clamp I invented to help keep my fishing boat up beside a concrete bridge pier where I fish for crappie.
Anybody who wants to copy this project design is welcome to do so, if they so desire.
The wood is a piece of mahogany to keep it from rotting.
The hinge is a simple butt hinge which is copper plated.
There's is a small 3/16 dia. "V" groove between the two mahogany pieces to make it easier to grasp the ski rope tighter. The size of this "V" groove depends upon the size of what you're going to clamp on to. I was clamping on to a 3/8" dia piece of ski rope.
The 1/4" dia. wing screw is used to make it easier and quicker to tighten down the clamp. Also, I jimmied the end of the 1/4" bolt so the wing screw can't come off accidently.
And finally, I drilled a hole in the oppisite side of the open clamp to allow another rope to be attached which is hooked to a cleat on my boat.
I made two of these clamp systems...one for the front and one for the rear of my boat. This holds the boat more squarely up to the concrete bridge pier while I fish basically straight down to nearly the bottom of the lake.
cool, I also invent, make, and repair alot of stuff inorder for it to work for me and my needs, and because I don't want to waist money when I can make a product on my own that works alot BETTER, most of the time its better anyways.
