Just got an XD

Well I just got an XD 9 SC for my birthday thanks to my dad. I have already stripped and cleaned it just for the fun of it and read the manual like a good ol boy. I noticed that it said the sights are set for 25yrds in the 6oclock picture. Most of my shooting is at 15yrds. how should my picture window be set up. THanks

You will have to shoot it to be sure but I would think aim at center of target and work from there.

You will love your XD. Do you shoot any IDPA or USPSA type of matches? I have a service model in 40 and an XDM. Love them both great guns.

Yeah, I rented a couple of the XDs at the local range and fell in love with them. I only shoot for practice and for the joy in it. I doubt i am good enough for any type of matches.

I'm sure that you are good enough to shoot a match. You owe it to yourself to give it a chance. I've shot matches all over the US and have never run into a bad group of people. Everyone is always willing to help and it makes you a much better shooter.

Congrats on becoming a member of the XD Owners Family. Great gun. I have the .40 subcompact which is the exact same sixe. At 7 yards and 15 yards center target is dead on. I have found that you need to have your finger further in the trigger. Well for me anyway. I first had my finger on the trigger the same place I put it on a revolver and a heavier auto and was shooting low and left. Adjusting finger placement put me where I wanted to be.

Me, too. About two weeks ago I picked up the new XD45, 4 inch barrel, with thumb safety.

Then, I put a Lasermax guide rod laser in it. Sweet!

Congrats on your new xd. I love my xd40 service model weather i'm practicing point shooting for self defense or aiming for accurate groupings it's a great shooter all around.....

On a side note how much ammo do you guys go through at idpa matches? I was thinking about trying one to see how I like it.
