Nice going Seabee! Cats are the best defense against mice. Our "Jasmine" has some real spirit when it comes to catching moving things. As much as I hate to admit it... I miss my kitty... oh yeah, and the cat too!

My cat has been gone two years now. I think about him every night. He was tiny, like the one you found, when I got him. I hope you have as many good years with her as I had with mine.

That little ball of fur has already got me attached, by the heart. Feeding her, with a little bottle, is what did it. It's almost like, she is so dependent, right now, it just pulls at me, watching her eat. When she finally has her fill, she starts the motor, and you can feel the vibration go all through her little form. She will watch me, like, I'm awful strange looking, but I'm where the warm formula comes from, so I must be okay! Then she curls up, on my arm, and goes back to sleep. I look down at that tiny creature, and ask myself, how can anyone want to harm something so innocent? I had been having a few rough times, over the loss of my father, and got to thinking, maybe he sent her to me, to help with my feelings. It's a nice thought! His last few years, he had two big orange tabbies, who would only go to him. They would climb on his lap, and sit there, watching him, like he was their personal responsibility. Maybe that's why she's here. To watch over me, and make sure that I'm okay. Well, if that's the case, I'm going to be fine, because she really likes to watch me, after each meal!

Thanks for the pic's! Did you get in trouble for taking CGO's camera? What does the Boss Cat think? Near our farm growing up we found cats/kittens every year in the same place. Rescued over 40 of them over the years. My favorite was named "Barbecue" with his sisters "Beef stew" and "Pot Roast". The two girls eventually found new homes but Barbecue stayed for many years! When I got married he sat at the steps every day at 12:30 when I would have gotten home (no cats at my new apartment). 2 weeks later Mom and Dad came home and found him dead on the steps. He was 9 years old.

I think you should name it Mosin, or Colt, or Ruger, or Miss. Smith Wesson.

Scotty, I think Mattie may have picked you as her person. I think she has decided that she is YOUR cat. And you may be on to something with your dad. A number of people I know think that Dactyl sent Tommy to us so we wouldn't grieve over her loss.

CONGRATS on the new Addition Scotty!! I hate the way it came to you but it sure has a good home now! The best kittie I ever had was hand raised like that one. They imprint on the one who feeds them and they will make a great companion for years! I especially love that type of cat!!! They almost never lose their play and they are very affectionate. To tell you the truth I have not had a cat in 6 years now and I am thinking about getting one again! I sure love them.

Hi ya Scotty And CGO. That was a good deed that ya done there ,taking in the cat. I was not gonna reply to this one cause Tara and Marti just got two while i was away in Virginia building a barn. The pet shop where they bought them charged them ten dollars a piece and both cats where in bad shape. Both had eye problems and fleas. And some sort of virus that took the life right out of the little fella that has grey fur. Marti named them Bonnie And Clyde. Our dog rocky took a likin to the both of them as you can see. But Saturday mornin the little grey one did not make it. Well this one looks like yours and we hope it can survive, the girls have been mothering the both as your pictures have shown, but as i said Clydes gone and Bonnie seems ta be doing pretty good. I wont get into my visit with the owner fella of the pet shop , i will just say he wont be selling another cat like the two he sold the two girls ever again. Here are some pictures. http://www.gunandgame.com/forums/att...1&d=1223599351 http://www.gunandgame.com/forums/att...1&d=1223599391 http://www.gunandgame.com/forums/att...1&d=1223599421 http://www.gunandgame.com/forums/att...1&d=1223599464 |

Sorry to hear about the grey one, Earl. Folks can call me easy, softie, pushover, or any of the above, and I will do my best to make it stick. As far as defenseless young animals go,I'll be happy to carry all those names. The kitten and I have come to therealization, that we are stuck with one another. I had to sleep awhile, this morning, and she stayed right under the blanket, close to me, andnever strayed. She finally got hungry, and got up inmy face, and woke me up, with little meows in my ear. I think she realizes that I can't hear well, because she likes toget rightup by my ear, soI can hear her. This is the third day, and I'm now sure, that she'll make it! She's a tough little kitten, and fits right in,with the family. My other orphen, Buddy the dog, finally met her, today, and seems to think all is well. Rudy, on the other hand, is jealous, and I have to keep an eye on him. I'm going to say this, because I believe God has good things in store for us. I am beginning to understand why these little tests are put before us. If you have a heartbreaking experience, and run across an orphan, like I did, take it home, and care for it. I am feeling better, every day that I get up, and see that little kitten alive, and growing stronger. I can see my Dad at work, in this, and hope he is happy that I passed the test. Mattie lay on my chest, this evening, staring into my eyes, as no animal ever has, and I could see the intelligence, in those tiny pupils, as though looking to see if I was feeling better. And the fact is, I AM feeling better, knowing that thislittle kitten is going to make it. Sorry, if I'm sounding weird, but this little kitty is helping to heal the loss of my Dad, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I hope everyone can find that solace, when they need it the most!

Scotty, I've always said that animals aren't human, but they're people. By that, I mean they may be simpler beings, but they aren't 'lower' ones or Disney-style poor imitations of us. Each one is a complete personality in its own right. If you deal with them eye to eye like you're doing, you become part of God's world instead of standing aloof from it.

Thanks Robert, Marti is a little upset since she was the one that was mothering the little fella, but she has accepted the loss. Your right about everything that you have said. I have a soft heart for the little critters that have been abused and threatened. And i certainly don't have to prove manhood feeling soft for careless animals especially cats and dogs. I have been caught petting and holding the little mouser as my daughter and my wife look at me wondering where the compassion comes from, since they very rarely see any from my side. All the hunting and dressing of a variety of game just isn't the same as the both of them usually dissipate as i dress and ready the game for consumption. Sorry to take away a little of your thread, but i figured you probably wont mind a bit. Keep that little one safe as we will do the same and i will talk to you again soon. Your neighbor earl..........

Ya'll are right. I just put her back to bed, after her morning feed, and exploration. She curled up, on my chest, and watched me, with those tiny, trusting eyes, til she finally went back to sleep. I don't think I need to prove my manhood, anymore, and don't find it necessary to act macho. I'm getting too old for those games, and pretty tired of 'em, as well. I did my part, in my time, and really have nothing to prove to anyone. Well, good work, and honesty, repairing guns, is something I need to show folks. But that's a different category. My kitty is doing fine, and looks like she'll make a great shop kitty. Troy, I have been mad at the Man, a few times, but never stood aloof, from Him. I have wondered, at times, why so much evil exists, in this messed up world of ours, and how a loving Creator could possibly allow it. Maybe it's a test, to help our immortal souls mature. But darn, at times it's awful tough, to get up, and face the meanness, that seems to be so prevalent, these days. This kitten has renewed me, and my faith in miracles. I just can't grasp, how she was able to survive the fall from a moving vehicle, and survive the traffic, when her siblings were run over on both sides. A minor miracle, maybe, but it brought me back, from grief.

This is the purrin'est, kneadin'est kitten, I've ever seen! When she grows up, she's gonna sound like a jet engine, when she's content. So far,the only thing she's got ahold of, is my nose. I don't know why, but she likes to grab my nose, with both paws, and stare at me. Maybe she's amazed, that something so homely, has been around for so long! LMAO!!
