So far as I know, yeah. I need to check some web sites and such.

Truely a sad day. A stainless DW .41 mag with 8 inch barrel was the first new gun I ever bought. Still have it and will have it until I pass it on to my kid. I worked a whole summer while in college in the late 80's to afford it. Thank God for used books and ramen noodles.

Unfortunately, the retooling issue is nothing new with DW. It took two trips back to the factory it make mine shoot right, but once they got things fixed (it took a new frame since the barrel was not drilled and tapped into the original frame square) it is a fine shooting weapon. The excuse for the poor drill and tap - old equipment.

Initial problems notwithstanding, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.

This is in the powder keg, but on the 28th, an auction is coming up here in which a stainless and a blue 8 1/2" vent rib .357 maximum, NIB, are coming up. What do you think they might be worth? Each has only one barrel, but both are literally brand new, complete with all the books and so on. They are listed as model 740 and 40, both VR-85.

A NIB 740 would bring $800 +/- on GB. Fine revolver.

What's up with the holes in the shroud? The pics from the auction don't show those. Is that the vented barrel shroud?

Just one of the many variations that you could get from DW. Vented rib, solid rib, half lug, full lug, windowed barrel shroud or solid shroud. Just about any combination of the above at one time or another.
My favorite is a vented rib, windowed shroud with full lug.

Thank you sir. The old girl seduced me at first sight.

She scares some people. I was at the local indoor range with the super mag and I started shooting my M15 S&W, little 38spl. Two guys in the lane next to my looked at it and kind of laughed. They had a Redhawk and a 686. After several cylinders in the 15 I pulled out the super mag, six fairly quick DA rounds down range, the guys next door, picked up and left.

The super mag is nasty indoors, I've been asked not to shoot it at one indoor range.

I am presuming the SuperMag is .357 maximum. What kind of velocities can this chambering deliver compared to the .357 magnum? I'm wondering why it isn't very popular with all the current interest in hypervelocity rounds. Seems like it could be a hard hitting flat shooting but milder recoiling round compared to the .44 mag.
