Thumbs down HK Factory Repairs

Recently I had to send my HK93 to the factory in Columbus, GA their new location. The ejector was not working and would jam every other round, crushing the mouth of the spent case. I tried 5 different types of ammo just to see if that was the problem with no positive results.

Of the three gunsmiths in town, none knew how to or even wanted to work on it, so I was only left with the factory. After calling the factory they gave me a return authorization number and their new address in GA.

I shipped it FEDEX for $24 and called the factory two days later when I discovered I had not included the letter describing the problems in the box. They were quite pleasent and was told they remembered my earlier call and found a bent extractor spring. They also replaced the cocking handle as the original one's plastic had cracked off due to age (it was imported in 1975). The problem was that they also replaced other parts that didn't need replacing. The Bolthead spring, firing pin spring, recoil sping, and both locking rollers.

This gun had only fired 200 rounds since it left the factory in 1975. My uncle was the orignal owner and only fired one 25 round mag through it when he bought it, the rest I fired after I got it about 9 months ago.

The factory repair reps charged me $118 for the parts and repair time, that was resonable enough I guess, but they also charged me $100 to ship it back UPS next day air. I told them that was unreasonable and they could just mail it back or ship it UPS ground, but they said it was company policy to only ship back 2nd day air. It came in yesterday and today I took it out to test fire it. The first mag had 3 failures to eject while firing the first 18 rounds. After that it fired four mags without any problems. I'm tempted to just sell it at the next gunshow and just shoot my 91 more often. It doesn't give me any problems other than the cost of ammo.

Rant over, thank you.
