XD M 9MM

I just found this forum and have read some good blogs. Does anyone know if it is true that Springfield is going to make a XD M in 9MM and if so, when?

Yes it is true, should be released this month or next. 19 + 1 round of 9mm and the 45ACP should be out the first of next year.
I have the 40 cal version and love it.

... are these XDM's coming in any other size i.e. compact, sub-compact, etc?

I'm thinking of replacing my wife's Sig Sauer P230 with one of these...

I have heard nothing about XD-Ms coming in different sizes. I thought the M stood for match grade (standard size barrel) so if they were to come out with a shorter version barrel would it still be a match grade barrel and an M. The XD Sub Compacts already exist. I own one in 9mm and am waiting for my .40 to arrive.

I doubt very much they will change the size, it's how they get 16 + 1 in 40 S&W and 19 + 1 in 9mm.

I heard from an SA associate this morning and at this point they have no plans for different platforms fot the XDm but she did say they are having a great response for the existing products and they may expand it in the future

I don't think the XDM's are coming is compact but I have a .40 XD in subcompact and I love it if that helps you at all.

The XDM is a great platform. It is a great shooting gun and I'm currently building one for USPSA Limited division. I have found some after market parts for the XD and XDm at www.tacttec.com. I have their gunsmith trigger kit for my XD in .40 and it's an awesome trigger.
