Exclamation sighting in

I can't keep my .22 sighted in. What is the correct procedure for sighting in for squirrel hunting at 25 yards?

Hi

Please let us know what gun you have and if you have one the
notoriously cheap scopes often sold with a .22 rifle. The scope may
just be the problem.

The gun is a sound rifle, but I would question the scope.. Who makes it???Did it come with it??? Go back to Nathangdad's post, it might just be your problem.

Sounds like it's probably a scope issue. Have you tried shooting a couple 5 shot groups, on paper, at 50 yrds to see if you are consistently moving in one direction or another?

If the gun is already set up w/ a weaver rail, then you might want to run out to wally world and pick up one of the Centerpoint Adventure Class scope (I got the 4-16x 40 for less than $70 and it comes w/ everything you need to mount it and lens covers).. I put mine on my 22 mag and it has held zero, so a 22lr shouldn't be a problem for the it... Matter of fact I know several people that have bought them and are well pleased.. One person on this forum even has one on his AR.

In short, the only bad thing I've ever heard was from people, on this site, that admittedly had never owned or used one..

Check all screws/nuts/bolts for proper tightness. Loosen & re-tighten EVERYTHING...put a little dab of Thread-Lock under the head of all screws (except Windage/Elevation adjuster screws).

Check Scope Rings/Scope Tube to make sure they didn't PINCH the scope tube and throw it out of whack.

Check scope & make sure all lenses are tight onto the tube.

Of course, it may just be a crappy scope...but sometimes it's the SMALLEST thing that's throwing it all out of kilter. I bought a '72 Convertible Mustang for $300 because the owner thought the Engine was frozen...turned out to be a loose starter. Bolts were VERY loose. Tightened it up and drove it home. Check the basics, and then start looking at better scopes if that don't fix it

I finished mounting my Center Point and plan to hit the range tomorrow to site it in. So far it LOOKS awesome I'll post a full review after the range I'll be shooting a WIDE variety of .22WMR rounds and plan to review those as well

Unless mine is miraculously better than the rest, you will be very happy.

As for as ammo, so far I've had the most luck w/ CCI 40gr MaxiMag HP and 30gr MaxiMag HP+V with my autoloader. If you can find the PMC Predator 40gr JSP's, I'd pick 'em up! They were probably the most consistent so far;but, I can't find 'em anywuurz in these here parts!

Have fun shootin!!

make sure all screws on the rings, mounts and on the scope bases(if you have em') are tight. then, just sight in for your prefered distance, and make sure you dont bump it.
