Can any of you help me out with finding ammo. I would like to purchase some mil surp ammo for my Mosins. My problem is that in the remote area I am never home to sign for a package and shipping explosives to my place of work is forbidden. So my question is where should I look to find a retail establishment that might carry this type of ammo.

Where's that rock you live on?
Around here, gun shows and Dunhams Spoprts come to mind.
BTW, ammo is not considered explosive. Officially it's shipped as ORM-D, the same as hair spray. Perhaps your employer wouldn't know the difference.

Google can be your friend. We can't tell you to where to look if we don't know where you live. Second, there are just so many places.
Take a look here for a few choices. Click on the ammo deals tab and pick your caliber. Fill in your zip code and it will give you cost per round with shipping
Both UPS and FED-EX will usually let you come to a local office and pick it up if a signature is required. All you have to do is call them when they leave the note on your door. Do you have a neighbor that is always home that will sign for you?

true, but usually in the gun shops, they charge you about $10/20rds of LB Czech....and the SP 'hunting' ammo is around twice that. jgsales doesnt seem to have any HB ammo anymore, but if you want any, just tell me shipping addy and I'll send you some of mine to try out. Have Fun!!!
Scienceman:
Until a few months ago, the lowest priced MN ammo appeared to be at Sportsmansguide and Impact-guns. I don't deal with them any longer.
Both have gone up a good bit, but Widener's and AIMsurplus have not yet raised their prices.
Just opened a grey can from Widener's several days ago and used some.
SOG and AIM ship ammo and the shipment isn't signature required. You will receive a tracking number upon shipment so you'll know when it's to arrive at your house, and UPS will drop the box in a hidden location at your home. (I have bushes)
Century Arms will do the same, and shipping from Century is a flat fee of $12 or so... Not so good if you're ordering a small amount, but a good thing if you're getting a bunch.
Thanks to all of you. I went to a gun show today and left with, amoung other things, 2 tins of 7.62x54r and 4 striper clips. That should keep me for awhile. I cant wait to go out Sunday and try it out. Thanks again for you suggestions

Perhaps not the cheapest but easy enough to order at dirtcheap.com. Two spam tins arrived in separate Pizza Hut dough boxes. Just left on the doorstep by UPS. No biggie.
Not sure what the neighbours think of our eating habits.
