Just wondering if anyone else has a CZ-550 Varmint Laminated .308 and if they may have any suggestions for what type of ammo has worked best for them. I have only tried a couple, but I don't really have the proper setup to get any REAL results. I went to the CZ website and emailed them with this question about a week and a half ago, but have not received a response.
well I have only tried 3 different types of factory ammo. The best groups I got came from federal's vital lok 165 gr at just under an inch at 100 yards, the it was hornady's 150 gr at right around an inch, remmington core locks 150 gr at about an inch and a half. You might be able to get better groups than me if you used a good rest. I was just using a table with a pillow on it.
The only thing I ran thru my 550 were handloads shot 110gr. V-MAX loaded in Lake City (LC77) Match Grade Brass with BL-C2 powder. And it did really well. But not good enough for me I guess I am to picky and looking for that magical shot group. Old habits are hard to break from the past. But I have heard 165gr. Nosler Rounds are great. I use Win. Supremes Ballistic Silvertip in my 30-06 and 300 Win Mag and they work fantasic. I used Win Supremes in another 308 and they ran a very tight shot group. So that would be the way I would go and try.
