the century cracked stock $50 deal is awsome.only one of the three i purchased had a cracked stock.all were serious projects to return them to shooting condition though.

well first there was so much cosmoline caked in every crevice the rifle wouldn't function.light was barely viseable through the barrel.i first disassembled the bolt and soaked it in breakfree clp all night, cleaned and then reassembled.i then removed the action from the stock and soaked the bore with clp all night, cleaned and then repeated the process.while this was going on i sanded the stock and refinished with boiled linseed oil.one rifle had a crack in the forend,i repaired it with loctite quick set epoxy, tied rags around it to hold it tight, and let it cure for two days, then refinished.about two weeks to finish all three rifles working on them before and after work.buy one in better condition if you are not willing or able to take on such a project.
I have both a Austrian and a Hungarian.
I think they are sweet little guns!!!
If they have that three for 50 each deal at Century still, I think it would be a fun project to refinish a couple rifles.
You say only one of the three was cracked, how about matching?
All matching?
Yep, they're based in the southwest. Their normal prices on guns really suck but their sales are really great-they usually have a different mil-surp on sale every week.

A little stunt for clamping cracked stocks: I cut old bicycle inner tubes into long strips. After I inject an expanding epoxy like Gorilla Glue into a crack with a hypodermic needle, I stretch one of the strips as I wind it round and round the stock, then tie it off. It compresses and clamps the wood so the epoxy spreads throughout the crack, instead of just expanding out the edges into the air.

well carpenter all but one was matching, the bolt number was crossed out and a matching number applied.it turned out the nicest however.the others will be Christmas presents for my shootin' pards.
