Smile Ruger

00bryan: Sir; I shoot single action Ruger 44s and I have both; I prefer Single action. Double actions are fine; faster to reload; can be shot either or.

You have the Super Redhawk, Redhawk, or the ''Blackhawk'' series

Accuracy durability affordable and ''Ruger'' names on them

I haven't seen a difference with gun handling between the two. Both will withstand you and what you can feed them with ease.

With practice; 100yds iron sites and I'm happy. I don't own a handgun scope; rather enjoy iron sites best.

The sbh and srh are close to the same weight scoped and loaded. Both very accurate, the sbh is less investment. I shoot both SA. I can pull the scope on the srh and do some DA shooting, more involved to pull the scope on the sbh.

madcratebuilder those are some nice lookin rugers! how do you like the scopes? I am looking into putting one on my SRH. Are the scopes the same and just different colors? I love the leupold scope I have on my 30.06 but wanted to find out from someone that has one before investing in one for my Casull. Thanks for the info in advance

Both scopes are the same 2X Leupold models. The blue one has been around the block on three guns. Never a problem with them. I see them on ebay going for just over $100 for nice ones, that a bargain.

One other thought: pick what fits your hand best. The recoil of a full load .44 mag is not inconsequential even though it is admittedly not in the same league as a .50 S&W. See if some range buddies will let you try different gun & grip combinations to give you some idea. I honestly think you will shoot better if the grip is comfortable.

While I have shot DA with the scope it's very hard to hold precisely on target. 99% of the time it's SA. With open sights it's not an issue, your not looking at a magnified sight picture, so you don't really see the movement that 2X or more magnification shows.

I have both, but prefer the SA because the angle of the grip seems to line up the the sights easier for me.

If you like the Super Blackhawk, get the Hunter model. The built in scope mount and Ruger rings makes it easy to install/remove the scope. It always goes back to true zero after re-installing. The Super Redhawk also has this feature. I'm partial to the single action but try both. Get what feels best to you and enjoy. You can't make a mistake with either Ruger.

I would guess most people shoot their Rugers single action style 99% of the time.
