CZ 82 Pic

Just in from J&G. Not impressed with the finish, but the bore looks good I guess. Can't really see much of this polygonal "rifling" in it, but I hope its there and it shoots well. Will post a range report when I shoot it. Just waiting for the ammo now. I will probably just strip this old finish off and re-blue the whole thing myself instead of this paint finish or whatever it is.

Well if you have a C&R FFL and about $200 you may as well go for it. Its pretty cheap. I got mine from J&G, and you can check out reviews there too of other people that bought them. But I will be sure to keep an update if you will be interested. Just gotta wait out my ammo until it arrives. I would hope it to come tomorrow, but it will probably be Wed or Thurs.

wow that is a rough looking one. I have bought 6 cz 82 s and their finishes vary from unissued to almost as rough as that one. the one I carry every day is my uguliest one. it is 100% reliable and accurate. dont let a crappy finish fool you. I hope you won't be disapointed, they are excelent side arms in my opinion.

Yea thanks blaster. I have heard good things. I hope it shoots well, and it sounds like it should. What do you shoot out of yours? I also wanted to use mine for a carry gun as well. I was thinking about stripping the old chipped finish off it, and polishing the slide and frame up, and taking Birchwood Casey's re-bluing kit to it. I haven't decided if I want to do that first, or wait until I shoot it first. I think it would look pretty good with a bluing on it. I am a little for the hand select $10 fee, I got one that looks like hell, but I suppose its hit and miss anyways. Thats what some of the reviews said. But I don't remember reading a review on J&G that dogged on the gun that said it was a total malfunctioning P.O.S.

I shoot silver bear jhp in all my 9x18 cal pistols. I preffer the 115 gr but its getting hard to find. the 94 gr works good too but you can feel the difference! the frame is aluminum so I don't think you can re blue it. I thought about dura coating my carry piece but decided against it.

Hmm, I have a CZ-82 and love the gun. I paid for hand-pick from SOG and there is some wear on the frame and slide. Someone wrote on the receipt, I assume the packer, that this was the best available. I wonder if the ready supply of 82's is drying up?

I looked at the frame on my 82 and it sure looks like steel. I think I have seen other posts showing a reblued slide and frame.

Its steel. It attracts a magnet. That was one of my tests before I decided to take the finish off. I don't know about bluing aluminum. I suppose I might have considered a polished aluminum look if it were in fact an aluminum frame. But it was steel, and now its all polished up.

Nice looking wood you got there. What kind of wood is it? Did you do any shaping to the back of the grips also?
