I've got the Hi-Point bug, and want to get one of their carbines in .40 cal. The problem is that I can't find them anywhere. None of my local gun shops carry them, and the online gun dealers all seem to be out and have them backordered. The only place I've seen them available is on gunbroker, and they were either 9mm, used, or too high a price (especially when factoring in transfer and shipping).
I've heard that Hi-Point is having trouble meeting demand, but are ANY rifles getting to dealers? Is anybody seeing these guns in their local gun shops?

I talked to the factory, or distributor, whoever they are, and there's a part vendor that supplies one or more parts that's been having production issues, and that's got their carbine production at a standstill. Not expected to be resolved until next year, I think. Your best bet would be to call them directly and ask, use the phone, not email.
The carbines went on sale locally for Father's Day, and I wanted a .40, but the local store didn't have any and couldn't get them. One of their other stores halfway across the state had several, so they sent a manager there to gather up a bunch and bring them back to our store. Got my .40, and a 9mm for the grandson.
If you find one, you better jump on it like a horny chimp.

Same store I'm talking about! Farm and Ranch kinda place, right? Our local one was out and couldn't get 'em, and another store had several. They said they couldn't do a "transfer" of guns from one store to the other, a manager had to go there in person and transfer them himself. Took a lot of phone calls and whining, but they got 'em.
Same store I bought two Rock Island 1911's in, BTW.

Called my local shop the day after Election day, to ask about a 995.
He had one on order. I put a deposit on it that day and picked it up a week later. Since then, he says he hasn't been able to get more and Hi-Point can't say when they will catch up.
I am glad I got the idea in my head and made that call!
I'm loving the 995 so much, I will probably buy the .45 carbine if/when it ever comes out.
I have one in 40 S&W to go with the handgun. Dose not like steel case ammo but will eat everything else. Accurate and easy to shoot for what it is. Hard to beat for $226 OTD.
I was just at gander in Erie PA they had three of them 2 9mm and one 40cal there going for $169.00 with tax and backround check it would be 184.14 for the 9mm ask me how i know i bought one with a red dot sight but it all together a cleaned it and planning on shooting it today all keep you posted.
i wonder how much you would have to modify the ati stock for the 995 to get it to work.
There's too much difference between the 995 and the 4095 to make the ATI stock work. A handmade wood stock is an interesting idea though. Maybe after the 57 other projects I have underway are done, plus the 100 others waiting to get started.

i didnt know they were so diffrent. yeah a wood stock sounds great.the handle might be weak though since it would have to be hollow.
The local gunshop where i live has a 9mm carbine with 1 mag and slight surface rust (nothing 5 minutes with a little steel wool would not solve) for 100 dollars.
yeah that is the only model carbine I am interested in
hopefully somebody makes an aftermarket stock for it. i would rather the 40 or the 45 over the 9mm if it wasnt for the stock issue. even though i dont plan on getting a highpoint as my first gun anymore(kinda because i wound up buying a cheapass shotgun where there is almost no info on)
