I have some thrill issues so I'm gonna use my 995 on a hog, thing is though I gotta be within 20 yrds to be sure of a clean kill. Fortunately they are accurate enough for a head shot.
Dec 2004 Ronnie & I went out shooting best day all winter (blowing 23mph out NNE -27F) Ronnie had problems with his Mosin 1938, I had the Dumpster gun (where I foundit) the Hi-Point 995 I managed to hit the antifreeze jug we were useing as a target set out on the Ice, 275 paces from where some old rusty oil drums "we used them as shooting benches" along the shore, out of ten shots I did get it 6 times with those open sights.
I did crack that original Hi-point stock and ended up putting it in one them ATI stocks because of no other alternatives.
The OEM stock has a smallish trigger guard "the only detractor" the stock makes it nice to carry & shoulder, though somewhat twisty "flexes allot", the ATI stock is rock solid but not as "fun" to carry as the Hi-Point stock.
So flexing stock thing and smallish trigger guard seem to be the two things I can think of.
Ive never had any problems with "Dummpy" my dumpster gun I sent to Bee Miller for warrenty work for $14.74 "postage" basic'ly I got back a new 995.
hello all
i just got a 9mm hi-point carbine.
my son got one last week and i just had to have one too.
i havnt had time to shoot mine yet but we sighted in my son`s gun and i was impressed out to 120yds. 4 inch group on a 6x10 target.
today i am taking a day out from deer hunting and i think i will shoot my carbine...and also shoot my muzzleloader, in preparation for more options on shooting deer.
anyway......i like the little carbine because it is light weight and ugly looking. kind of scary looking to some people.
the other day i was asked ...what can you shoot with that thing?........
i replied and said.....anything i want!
we plan on reloading the 9mm using 124gr fmj.
currently i am looking for a good reload chart that has different powder manufactures. any one have a good source?

back in the katrina days a house coaught fire and burned to the ground . they guy lost all his guns well he through away the highpoint in the dump it was basicly a barrel with melted polymer around it the only way i new it was a highpoint was the shroud. well my son showed it to me and i said man thats junk leave it alone so it stayed there for a day or so in the rain in the dump.until i said what the hell let me go get it and see what i can do with it.well it was a rust bucket because heat and water makes rust.the gun was completely jammed up and would not move "cycle" i chipped off the plastic and tryed to force the carrier down and it just snapped off.i called mks and they told me to box it up and send it to them well i did and i was expecting a bill but instead i got a brand new gun in the mail.they said it was my original gun they redone but i don't believe them this gun was showroom condition with 2 extra magsand all atachements in the new highpoint box???? they even opaligized for taken 3 weeks to fix it??? well anyways if you don't believe me go to the testimonials on their web sight and scroll through them my name is tommy and the story is in there. if my glock would have melted glock would have givin me a price of a replacement and said sorry for your loss.
