Guide Rod Options for my XD 4"

Anyone using a Don's Guide Rod or the Canyon Creek Tungsten Version from Pistolgear.com? I have been debating which one to get. The tungsten is much more expensive, but say's it should reduce muzzle flip. Also what spring weight would you guys recommend? Thanks.

I have a DGR fatty in my Xd-45 tact 5'' and it did reduce the muzzle flip I also put in a 20# spring.

I am using a guide rod from www.tacttec.com. I would only suggest a tungsten guide rod if the entire rod is made of tungsten. The one from Canyon Creek has a tungsten insert a drilled out guide rod. As far as spring weight that dwill depend on the shooter. I am run everything from a 14lb to 20lb in my xd service .40.

If you send your XD to Canyon Creek, they can insert a tungsten insert into your existing guide rod, but the guide rod for sale on PistolGear.com seems to be solid tungsten made by Canyon Creek. I can't tell from the pics on their website, so I have sent a question into their help center. Oh, the website you recommend only has a guide rod available for the tactical series. Mine is a 4" service model. Thanks anyway.
Is the only advantage of tungsten more weight? If that's it, I will go the cheaper route.

It is not a solid tungsten guide rod. I know someone who bought one. Glad they did before I did, that saved me some cash. Yes the added weight is the only advantage.

I think I will stick with the cheaper version then. My XD already has an M3 and a Hogue grip and a tungsten mag release, I don't need extra weight. That surprises me that they market it like it is solid tungsten. And I have not gotten a response yet.

Pistolgear.com just got back with me, they said their guide rods are solid tungsten. No hollowed out rod with insert.
XDnewguy, why does your friend think it was only an insert? This really perplexes me. I still think I will order a the cheaper one, but I am curious.

I have an xd40 also and wanted to put a trigger and spring kit in it for more responsive shooting. Will that hang me in court if I have to use it for self defense? I've read similar cases of guys with glocks that got screwed in court for having lighter triggers.
