Im thinking of getting a hi point pistol. Im torn between the 45acp model or the C9comp. its just going to be a weekend range gun to go out and kill rouge pumpkins or watermelons. i have a 357mag for my self defence weapon around the house so im not really looking on another self defence weapon, unless im being attacked by rouge coconuts, theyre the worst of all the rouge fruits&vegetables. i know theyre cheap. and owners, tell me how they honor theyre lifetime warranty. i would like everybodys facts, experiences, problems, likes, dislikes about this gun. rate it on stuff like accuracy, and how it functions, and tell me if you would recommend the little $200 gun as a weekend "toy". thanks

Reason: left something out
I bought one of the .45's just to have a gun that I didnt care if it got wet, or beat up while out mining on the dredge in the water...Just In case of whatever, Bear, wolves, thieves( not Many of Them Left around!)
Better shooting gun than I anticipated , after loading 7 different types of ammo in the mag and it never hiccupped once...and was right on target.
And being kinda big and Clunky, it was surprisingly stable...
Better to beat up a 100 dollar gun than a 700 dollar Colt !

But it's been a great little rifle. Accuracy is OK--Shoots about 3" groups--maybe if I concentrated more and used better trigger control I could do better--for me at 50 yds, and cycles thru all the ammo I've fed (from white box cheapies through Buffalo Bore +P+) with nary a hiccup in over 500 rds. The trigger's not great, but for the money it's a great little gun.
Might wanna stock up

I own the C9 9mm. Performance has been great, although it is bulky. Havent had to use the warranty but it looks like one of the best in the industry. Thats all I can really say.
I would rate a High Point just a hair below a case of The Clap.
LOL, They are not as bad as the Clap, I've had both...Wait,...huh what?
Umm... what's that deep conceal burning? Is that a H-Point in my pants or am I gonna regret that other thing!
I have held one in my hand, thinking about buying one, the price alone is enough to go for it. But.... every one I know who has one seams to like it. There just doesn't seam right about the whole concept, there is something just seady, & wrong side of town about it. I guess I'm just a gun snob.
thanks for all the opionions. ive shot the regular c9 and it was accurate and never missed a beat. and ive shot the 40 carbine same thing, at 50yds we was taking out pop cans, soup cans, and whatever we thought would be cool to video getting shot. i just wanted to get more educated on it since there wasnt that much info out there besides actual owners. but yea, for something im just gonna go out and play with, id rather spend 150 200 bucks rather than 600 or 700. also what exactly do compensators do? are they there for looks, cause the compensator on my 357 dont help with recoil or muzzle jump.
I owned the 9mm version. It was heavy and ugly, but it went bang every time I pulled the trigger. I thought it wasn't the most accurate past 25 yards, but it could have been me. I put around 2,000 rounds through mine before I sold it. Since you are just looking for a fun range gun, I would say go with the 9mm since the rounds will be much cheaper.
Its junk.
It has a zinc slide, and any automatic with a zinc slide is disposable. Remember the S&W Sigma .380?
The fact that it is cheap does not necissarily translate into "Value."
I have seen more than one fall apart in 200 rounds.
On the other hand, you can put 10s of thousands of rounds through a used Glock or Beretta. In the long run, you will pay more for the ammo than the gun.
To put tens of thousands of rounds through a Hi Point, you will have to send it back for repairs so many times the shipping costs will be greater than a new Wilson Combat 1911 or custom Sig....
If you want an autoloader look out for a used gun of a better make. I once owned a $200 auto ordnance 1911 that was a great shooter. You can often find KBI pistols in 9mm or .45 that are good shooters, as well as used Tanarmi/Excam/Tanfoglio/Star pistols used in the under $300 range.
Search gunbroker every week and you will be amazed at the bargains on there.
If you absolutely won't listen to reason and have to posess one of these abortions, I would advise you to buy a used one for around $50 to $75.
Remember, you will NEVER get your money back out of one of these things if you wise up and decide to sell it.
Before I would blow $200 on a bad gun,I would spend it on a high end production knife.
