Looks like it could be an Arisaka that has been sporterized, looking at the bolt and the chamber. What caliber is it?

I agree it looks like a Jap. WW-2 rifle thats been sporterized.

it looks like it may be a type 99 long rifle 7.7mm
the pics are too muddy for me to tell what series number it is
but it was made at either
koishikawa 1870-1935
or kokura 1935-1945
arsenals

see if you can take a clearer picture of the 3rd photograph.
a good shot of the front sight also.

i am particularly interested in getting a good look at the very 1st stamp in the 3rd. pic.
and the very last one after the 3 circles.
gimmie those and we will get to the bottom of this mystery!

It definitely is a Type 99, which is 7.7. The marking on the left looks to be a Series Number 40. But that series number was for the Jinsen Arsenal (Korea). But the marking to the right looks in the marking of the Koishikawa or Kokura arensal.
