Exclamation Mini 30 cant fire cheaper ammo

Im having truble shooting berdan primed ammo through my mini 30, it will dimple it, but thats it. I know that its because the primer is harder than other ammo. My brother has no problem shooting the same ammo through his SKS. It will shoot the more expensive stuff fine, but that can get pretty expensive when your just out shooting targets. Im sure there is a way to fix this problem. Can someone help me out here?

There are a couple of people with the same situation you have. Personally, I'd start reloading.

You may also be experiencing gunk in the firing pin hole from lacquer buildup.

Yeah, thats not the problem at all. My gun is cleaned every time after I shoot it, and that has nothing to do with it. Its as if it isnt hitting the primer hard enough. I have heard of guys getting stronger firing pin springs, but I havnt heard if that works or not. I have also heard of guys getting different firing pins all together.

Had the same problem with WOLF ammo. Easy fix - hammer spring upgrade (from Accuracy Systems - I think). Google the SCARSTOCK (Clyde Armory) there is a link to them on the website. No more problems with WOLF ammo for me - except the obvious... its really dirty, not super accurate, probably toxic, but what the hell; ITS CHEAP!

Ok, thanks alot, that should fix the problem. I will be getting one right now. Yeah, it is dirty ammo, but it is dirt cheap as well, that just means I have to clean my gun extra good after words. Again, thank you.

Mini 30 & Wolf Ammo

If you would go to this site : Custom Ruger Mini 14 30 Rifles Accuracy Systems Gunsmith

There is a Mini 14/30 Extra Power Hammer Spring
** A Must for those choosing to shoot steel cased
Wolf Ammo! Will help eliminate the misfired
rounds caused by hard primers. This spring
will give the hammer more force which in turn
will hit the firing pin harder. PRICE $13.99

New - Recoil Reduction Extra Power Spring
  1. Factory Length - Price $12.95 - Replacement Only
  2. Our Extra Power - $17.95 - Ours

Shock Buffer (Saves scope and receiver)
Price $17.95

Get these parts to shoot wolf ammo. I tried just the hammer spring and I found that I had to buy the other parts also.

Happy shooting
