ok i know the reciever cover scope mounts are not known to be good but some people get good results from them but i found a S&K mount that replaces the dust cover pin with a bolt. i never heard of these ones before would these work good? does anybody have them?
ohh here is the link( its the first sks mount on the page):S&K Scope Mounts
quite pricy at $95.00 for mount and rings only, I purchased a combo set for $24.99 that came with reciever mount , rings and scope. it required a little filing on the tabs to fit but they are made longer to fit any sks, just do it a little at a time and you can get a nice tight fit and no bolt is needed.
Yeah, what keeps the front stable? The drill and tap routine seems like the only stable and therefore accurate solution. How strong is the receiver with respect to drilling/tapping/hanging a scope there during recoil forces? I'd hate to work it all up and find the thing flexes when the gun is fired.

I'm not so sure. With it going through the hole in the receiver, it could be quite steady. I have a peep sight that attaches in the same manner and it goes back to where it was every time. Or did when I had it on. I not have a scout mount and red dot. I like it more

Where does the scout mount attach? The SKS seems like it deserves a red dot more than a scope.

I have the one from centerfire, the package deal for $24.99 scope receiver mount and rings, if you do a lot of checking while you file the tabs down and spread the ears for a good tight fit it shoots great, yes you do loose your zero when you remove it for cleaning, but its a small price to pay for the cost. and since I can walk out my back door and re-zero it i'm happy with the purchase. and its accuracy. I think most people get in a hurry to make it fit and take off too much metal therefor they get bad results with them.
I dont think the one you listed is worth the money at all..I have two with reciever mounts and they are not perfect .I agree up to a point with the two opions listed above .I dont think for most of us a target at 100 yrds in a six inch pattern for zero is all that bad..The one I bought and filed down fits tight when bolt and spring are removed and goes back to pretty close to zero when re installed.I am going to go with a red dot on that mount next.. I dont like to drill and tap anything if I dont have to .

i guess it just depends on your personal preference, I shot 2 bucks with mine walking across my pasture (75yard shots) so to me the cheap $24.00 setup was worth the money.
I thought about the one that you have to drill and tap 4 holes but as you said i dont like to drill and tap if i dont have to

Where does the scout mount attach? The SKS seems like it deserves a red dot more than a scope.
Attaches to your rear sight base. Includes directions for taking off the rear sight. Attaches with allen screws(comes with the wrenches) and also is a rear sight when you remove the rail. The rail stays zeroed when you take it on and off. As I said before. I LOVE IT! And I agree. Without serious modification, the SKS is a red dot rifle rather than scope.
Below is the sight(this one is an AK47 but it's the same with the SKS) with the rail removed. It's better than it looks.
Hmmmm. That looks suspiciously like one of them thar' automatic long range sniper assualt rifle thingies that's just waiting for some innocent person to come into range so it can kill them. Does your wife know you have that thing in the house?
I LIKE it!

LOL If I had one she'd know. Because I wouldn't marry any girl who would object to having it. But anyway, it's reasonably accurate. I've only tried Wolf ammo, so I'm sure it will do better than it does. It can hit 4x4 inch blocks at 50 yards.
I would hope so. My Redhawk can hit 2 x 2 targets at that range with no problem. Can it hit that 4" target at 100 yards?
Or are you talking about timed/rapid fire instead of slow fire? Can you empty the clip into a 4" target at 50 yards in 10 seconds or less? I'm working on getting a double tap from the Redhawk, SA then DA, into that size target.
Of course, when I shoot a deer with it, the deer will drop in its tracks and there will be no need for a follow up shot.

That's semi quick shots. Not rapid, not slow. I also haven't taken the time to sight it in with a perfectly stable base yet either. That was a quick fix to get it good enough. I have no need for it to be more accurate at the moment, so I haven't messed with it. I probably should though, just to see what it'll do.
Also there's a mount just like mine for sale on G&G!

This is my SKS.
saw the instructions on installing it and there seems to be a lot of screwing. how hard is it to set zero with all the mount screws?, i see there are 4 screws, 2 on each side...
