I think we did this already, but here goes again. I had to wade thru four years of being a Vietnamese(northern dialect) linguist, before they let me transfer to the 'Bees, which was the best part of my service to the country. And while I was on active duty, the nickname "Scotty", became the only name I answered to. I'd go home on leave, and my Mom would yell at me, because I didn't answer to my first name. I explained to her, that we didn't use first names in the service, and she finally just shouted, "Hey, You"! Anyway, nothing herioc, just my best time in the service, and the nickname from that time!

| This is my most common nomme de net. It's also relatively unique in that it's a variant spelling of an entomological term.
There are 29 Orders in Class Insecta. Odonata is dragon and damselflies, Orthoptera is all the grasshoppery ones, Diptera is flies, and Coleoptera (note the spelling) is beetles. The naturalist JBS Haldane has a great quote attributed to him, it may be apocryphal: Asked what could be inferred about the work of the Creator from a study of His works, the British scientist J.B.S. Haldane is reported to have replied, that He has "an inordinate fondness for beetles."
There are over 300,000 known species of beetles. They are the most successful form of land animal life. They are instantly recognizable and live everywhere except the ocean. They climb, burrow, swim, and fly. They have been seen as symbols of life (the scarabidae) or death (the deathwatch beetle). They bring delight (ladybugs) and wonder (fireflies).
Entomoolgy is a hobby of mine, but I wanted a net name that was more unique. I found out that the alternate spelling "Coeloptera" is used enough to have made it into research papers, among other things. So the variant is what I picked.
- Coeloptera |

Okay, Dookie, cough it up, or I'll have to pay the southpaw, to find out! By the way, Lefthandshooter, I'm a southpaw, too. But Uncle Sam only supplies righthanded guns, so I got to learn how to shoot, the other way. I can still shoot southpaw, with rifles, but my left arm is so chewed up, it won't take the recoil, from my handguns.

I think mine is kinda lame...cb is short for cbreeze(Sea Breeze)....My Friend in high school had a tattoo of that on his arm. Well One day I was day dreaming of opening up a Bar/Club and was pondering what name I would call it...then I Thought Club Breeze for the name so hence cb and 671 is the area code for Guam. I use this on most of the forum's I am a member of or was lol

As a kid who grew up in Mass. I was fascinated by the Revolutionary War because it was fought (lots of it anyway) right here. I spent my whole life walking all the places you learned about in elementary school. In New England, you can't turn a corner without finding a grave site full of vets from that war, or a home of someone famous from that war , or a battlefield.
I was also amazed at the spirit of those people. A bunch of farmers and blacksmiths took on the superpower of their time for what they believed in, and the suffering they were willing to endure to achieve it.
Anyway, I was fascinated by them since 2nd grade and still am, Thus the name YankeeSpirit76. Oh yeah, Someone once asked me if the 76 was my age...LOL. No, it's just short for 1776.

It's what my daughter calls me. Stolen shamelessly from "Back To The Future" by my wife.
When she was 3, my daughter was still calling me "Da-Da". One day as I was leaving for work, my wife says (quoting Marty McFly) "Bye Da-Da-Daddyo", and it stuck. Actually, my daughter couldn't say D's for quite a while, so for a time I was Ga-Ga, then Goggy-o.
Around the net I'm also sometimes 1cooldaddyo because, well, I am.

Billy, as a side interest I collect advertising particularly of cars and recognized your avatar right away.
I'll have to check my collection but I think both Plymouth and Corvette did a whole shooting sports related campaign in the late 60's to early 70's.
