87A misfires

I have a springfield 87A and it is a neat gun. It wasn't fired for many years until recently I got it from my father. It worked well with few misfires but recently it has become very unreliable. I have tried several types of ammo from bulk to eagle ,remington with it happening enough that I don't shoot it anymore because of the hassle of having a round coming up out of the mag and the misfire partly out of the chamber. Any ideas of the problem? Could it be the firing pin just getting old and not hitting hard enough. It leaves an impression on the shell case or could it be too much lube or not enough? any ideas I like the feel of the gun and would like to put it back into the normal rotation.
